Dear Sarah -
Over the past few weeks, my heart has been repeatedly broken for you and your family as I've witnessed the most caustic, imbalanced, ill-tempered, unreasonable, biased, unjustifiable, hypo-vitriolic, and satanic personal attacks to have ever been foisted on a public figure in my lifetime, and perhaps in the history of this country.On behalf of roughly half of the adult American population, I apologize for the treatment you and your family have endured from the other half of our adult population; most significantly from our Main Stream Media (MSM), but also from Europeans, the democrats, the entertainment industry, the far left, feminists, and a group I can only describe as a mass of secular and ignorant.
Their irrational portrayals, stereotypical characterizations (or rather mischaracterizations), duplicitous fabrications, immoral labeling, insensitive slurs, and carnal propaganda must hurt you all during your precious family times.
For all of this, to the limits of my freedom to do so, I apologize. Shame on us all.
Since my elder sister had the pleasure of meeting you and your family in passing, and because she said you all are exactly what you seem to be, I know you have the grace and spirit to forgive and move on. God bless you and the rest of the Palin clan ... especially God's special gift, Trig.

RACISM: The real racists are no longer white!
Blacks can spin it anyway they want but the arrow still points squarely at racists! Writing for RCP, Dennis Pragar says ...Seven weeks before the 2008 presidential election, liberals are warning America that if Barack Obama loses, it is because Americans are racist. ....The double standard on who is and who is not a racist cannot hide the overwhelming percentage of blacks voting for Obama just because he is black.
That an Obama loss will be due to racism is becoming as normative a liberal belief as "Bush Lied, People Died," a belief that has generated intense rage among many liberals.The deep emotional connection that nearly every black American has to an Obama victory is difficult for even empathetic non-blacks to measure. A major evangelical pastor told me that even evangelical black pastors who share every conservative value with white evangelical pastors, including pro-life views on abortion, will vote for Obama. They feel their very dignity is on the line.I remember attending San Jose State College (pre-university days) when Tommie Smith was setting a world record every time he set foot on the track. I recall eating in the campus cafeteria and watching the blacks segregating themselves from the rest of us ... Smith and John Carlos included.
This was during the 60s, when America was trying to right the wrong of white-racism.
I remember being at a Southern Baptist pastors retreat in California about ten years ago, listening to a black pastor and a black youth pastor explain to me and a white friend why they hoped and prayed that we and every other white-American would experience the humiliation and degradation that they felt and had felt.
To our shock they told us they hoped and prayed that this country and its whitey culture would crumble in a heap just so they could see whites go through what their people have gone through.
These were men who were consecrated to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ - the one known as The Truth, The Life, and The Way!
To this day my friend and I remain dumbfounded because of what we heard these two "men of God" reveal to us at that little round table over coffee.For 40 years, liberals have described the most open and tolerant society on earth as racist and xenophobic. If Barack Obama loses, the results of this liberal depiction of America may become frighteningly apparent.The vast majority of Americans ... democrat and republican, black and white, Native and Asian, what ever ... know that the vast majority of Americans are nowhere near racist; yet most liberal Americans, especially those in or out of academia, and the MSM do!Why do liberals believe that if Obama loses it will be due to white racism?Prager predicts ...
One reason is the liberal elite's contempt for white Americans with less education -- even if they are Democrats.
A second reason is that it is inconceivable to most liberals that an Obama loss -- especially a narrow one -- will be due to Obama's liberal views or inexperience or to admiration for John McCain.
The third reason is that the further left you go, the more insular you get. Americans on the left tend to talk only to one another; study only under left-wing teachers; and read only fellow leftists. That is why it is a shock to so many liberals when a Republican wins a national election -- where do all these Republican voters come from?... if Obama loses, liberal rage will focus on millions of fellow Americans and on American society.I pray that those who've trained themselves to be colorblind with regard to race will rise up and angrily tell the spoiled liberal brats to be quiet and return to their rugs and finish their nap.

RACISM: Let me get this straight - racist Democrats?

Say what? Sum a dem Dems is racist? No! Can't be?Though that argument is countered by Obama’s strong primary performance is [sic] mostly white states like Iowa, the AP-Yahoo News survey, conducted with Stanford University, found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks — many calling them “lazy,” “violent” or responsible for their own troubles.That's right, Dems!
But it won't matter one whit, Republicans have already been warned that if the man from Illinois is not elected, it will be because of the GOP, conservatives, evangelicals, and people like Sarah Palin. (Did I miss anyone?) So the blame will be placed squarely on our shoulders no matter how he loses, period.Certainly, Republican John McCain has his own obstacles: He’s an ally of an unpopular president and would be the nation’s oldest first-term president. But Obama faces this: 40 percent of all white Americans hold at least a partly negative view toward blacks, and that includes many Democrats and independents.I certainly hope this survey is wrong, I don't like phobias in any form ... and I hate hate.
More than a third of all white Democrats and independents — voters Obama can’t win the White House without — agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don’t have such views.
Such numbers are a harsh dose of reality in a campaign for the history books. Obama, the first black candidate with a serious shot at the presidency, accepted the Democratic nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, a seminal moment for a nation that enshrined slavery in its Constitution.

HOMOSEXUALS: California's queer industry continues its "in your face" campaign!
A bill passed by the California legislature (now sitting on Governor Schwarzenegger's desk) seeks to designate May 22 as Harvey Milk Day; AB 2567 states ..."On Harvey Milk Day, exercises remembering the life of Harvey Milk and recognizing his accomplishments as well as the contributions he made to this state" should be conducted; specifically, "all public schools and educational institutions are encouraged to observe ... and conduct suitable commemorative exercises."That's K-12 "and beyond" [Buzz Lightyear].
Notice that Milk was a San Francisco county supervisor with a "special interest" agenda: why should the entire state school system celebrate the life and work of a San Francisco pervert?
I can understand Cesar Chavez or William Mulholland, at least their lives and works affected the lives and works of all Californians, and those somewhat positively. But Milk's resume has had nothing but a deleterious affect on the people of California.
This kind of legislation is one of very many reasons we left California.
Soon teachers with a Judeo-Christian worldview will be nudged out of the profession and new teachers with a similar worldview will emigrate to other states (one of our daughters), or into private education, depriving the kids of California some of the best in the business.
Woe to California and Californians.

Although I must admit I encountered an anecdotal example of blue collar racism against the candidate (just yesterday), racism is not an issue in our current election campaign ... the issues are!
Cafferty's suggestion is race-baiting at its slimiest; such a thing implies a Nader voter is a racist, a Paul voter is a racist, and (most revealing) all who voted for Clinton or Edwards in their primaries are racists.
Then the CNN trooper admits it's not racism, it's political worldviews that are at work ... only he can't grasp his man is losing.The differences between Barack Obama and John McCain couldn't be more well-defined. Obama wants to change Washington. McCain is a part of Washington and a part of the Bush legacy. Yet the polls remain close. Doesn't make sense…unless it's race.Sorry Jack, it probably doesn't make sense to you because you're simply "out of touch."
The truth is Obama may well regain his lead! But race baiting is one of the many things troubling the public about the media and politics today, and another reason why Palin has turned so many independent and leaner heads.
Or could it be that you don't understand the real basis for the current administration's low approval ratings? Could it be he (as Limbaugh has said many times) is more popular than the polls reveal, and that his apparent unpopularity is just that, only an appearance of unpopularity?
Cafferty transitions to his full-post with this confusing little bit of tripe ...Time magazine's Michael Grunwald says race is the elephant in the room. He says Barack Obama needs to tread lightly as he fights back against the McCain-Palin campaign attacks.I guess he wants company with his crime.
This is all another sign of desperation on the part of Obama's supporters, as well as a prima facia case of race baiting.

If it hadn't been in the WSJ I would have doubted this story ...Police arrested and shot to death Sunday the head of an Internet news service who had been critical of authorities in the volatile Caucasus province of Ingushetia.The story is incomplete in the linked page because it i's a teaser to a WSJ subscription page.
The death of Magomed Yevloyev, owner of the Web site Ingushetiya.ru, is certain to further ratchet up tensions in the region which, along with the neighboring province of Chechnya, has been a haven for militant opponents to Kremlin authority. In recent weeks, the Kremlin has tightened security in Ingushetia, apparently fearing Russia's enemies may stir up trouble there while its troops have been occupied in Georgia.
However, other news services are reporting the same story; being unsuccessful with democracy the Soviets have indeed returned to their old tricks.In Moscow, Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said in a statement that Yevloyev was detained by police and died in an "incident" while being taken to police headquarters for an interrogation. Markin did not elaborate, saying that a check to clarify the circumstances of Yevloyev's death had begun. The committee is under the Prosecutor General's office.I'm thinking - with recent geopolitical developments in mind, who do I really want to see in the White House next year?
Yevloyev has angered regional authorities with bold criticism of police treatment of civilians in the region. A court in June ordered him to shut his site on charges of spreading "extremist" statements, but it reappeared under a different name. [elpasotimes.com]

I'm watching NBC's local Sunday Morning news program and I'm shocked by twenty minutes of national and international news without a mention of the war in eastern Europe (the Caucasus aka Georgia). [UPDATE: 40 MINUTES IN - it's mentioned]
We are on our way to church in a few minutes and don't have time to view other news; but if the world doesn't get it, at least a few people are laboring online to document the Russian aggression ...Thus we see the war in the Caucasus evolve into a litmus test for the basic institutions of the West itself. If those institutions fail, especially in the eyes of its most vulnerable members, then the suffering in Georgia will, in the long run, be mere prelude. [The Brussels Journal]I rarely use the old saw "I told you so" but this morning I am saying, "I'm telling you so!"

Jerry Gordon in New English Review says an international institution is complicate (by their absence) in a cover-up of the problem ...The mainstream media has copped out on an important story that, post 9/11, is a threat to the counterterrorism effort.A systemic bias in the media is the cause of this blinders mentality; though the evidence is everywhere in the blogosphere, MSM is in major denial. EVIL: Must the Bride fall in order to rise again?
I write this post under a deep conviction that the Bride of Christ, as she is manifested in the West, is horribly ill and perhaps terminally so!
****It is strange to realize you're a soul-brother with a man you don't know; especially on a controversial subject like evil. But that seems to be the case. Theodore Dalrymple admits to a fascination with books dealing with "evil." I too am fascinated with this subject ... even before becoming a believer.
Recently, Dalrymple read a book by Phillip Cole [a philosopher], The Myth of Evil, and was impressed with some, but not all, of Cole's arguments. The author's principle point is that the word evil is useless in a civilized society.[Cole] uses as an example the notorious and brutal murder of the two year-old James Bulger by two ten year-old children, John Venables and Robert Thomson. Both of the culprits came from highly disturbed and indeed sordid backgrounds, in which there was a lot of violence, emotional instability, excessive drinking, etc. The statistical connection between such a background and violent criminal behaviour is clear; but what the two boys did was nevertheless exceptional (murder by children, even from the worst circumstances is very rare).In Dalrymple's words ...[Cole] argues for the uselessness, indeed the harmfulness ... , of the concept of evil. And I confess that, though I have sometimes had a strong sense of being in the presence of evil, I have had some slight difficulty with the meaning of the concept myself. What exactly does it mean? Can we, ought we, or must we, do without it, philosophically, ethically, psychologically and sociologically?Notice the absence of the spiritual realm.Cole argues that the concept is redundant both as a description and as an explanation of human conduct. In fact, he says, its main use or function, when stripped of its unsustainable pretensions to describe or explain anything, is to frighten populations into acquiescence to the extension of power over them by ruling elites whose legitimacy might otherwise be called into question. For it is not common values or characteristics that unite political entities such as states in the modern world, he says, but common enemies, who are either wholly imaginary or whose power and malevolence are much exaggerated.It is true that fear, as a concept and a reality in Scripture is used to elicit our acquiescence to the person and power of God. Yet, only the fool would suggest He uses it to avoid questions concerning His legitimacy.Indeed, [Cole] continues, the concept of evil is responsible for much harm ... in the world. The reason for this is clear. When we say of someone that he is evil, we are saying that he is a being of a quite distinct category from ourselves, such that normal ethical limits and restraints do not apply in the way that we must deal with him. For evil is the ultimate – well, evil, and must be destroyed by any means possible. Without the concept of evil, then, we would be much less likely to treat people evilly.I detect a hint of Reagan and Bush bashing in Cole's argument above; remember the "evil empire" and "the axis of evil," respectively?
Of course authentic believers know the question of evil was answered by God Himself long ago:Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. [Genesis 2:9]After analyzing Cole's forensic weaknesses, Dalrymple offered the following penetrating thought ...... on the larger point on [the Bulger] case, Dr Cole is surely right: to have dismissed them as irredeemably evil, or possessed by evil, would have been mistaken and cruel, as is proved by the fact that the children subsequently turned out well, much better in fact than they would have done had they never committed the murder, for they received intense and humane attention thereafter.Herein is nurture and justification for the Age of Accountability doctrine.As the writer of a book on the case, Blake Morrison, put it (I quote from memory), ‘It was a pity they had to murder James Bulger to get an education.’ I don’t think I have read a more succinct and damning indictment of a society and its educational system than that, and no doubt it does not apply only to Liverpool, England. [New English Review]This is such an excellent metaphor for the Good News. I might paraphrase Morrison's words in this way: "It is a pity we had to murder Jesus of Nazareth to get understanding." But it is true ... isn't it? What would man have learned about evil had not the ultimate innocent died?
Like Dalrymple, I don’t think we can find "a more succinct and damning indictment" of man and his systems than that.
Likewise,Dr Cole extends the lessons of [the Bulger] case to all human evil ... . Venables and Thompson were redeemable precisely because those who looked after them thought they were redeemable and did not consider them as evil by essence; by extension, everyone else who commits evil is redeemable, though perhaps with more difficulty.Sinners all (Romans 3:23), we "were all redeemable precisely because [God made us] redeemable " and considered evil as "evil by essence." I believe Dalrymple inadvertently tells us an eternal truth: "by extension, everyone ... who commits evil is redeemable, though perhaps with more difficulty."
Is that not what God put in man at his creation ... His own image? Thus the concept of "evil by essence" must be mitigated with the Imago Dei.

ISLAM: Enough - Forcing Reasonable People to Become Unreasonable!
I'm reaching the point of exhaustion with all this kowtowing to Muslims; all over the world we're seeing Westerners genuflect to Muhammadans and their aberrant expectations of others ... no grace, no geniality, no give, no indication of live and let live! I'm tired of it all!
If I were younger I'd give serious thought to going underground.This, in a country that values free speech and individual liberty. The above followed yesterday's news about the troops who put their lives on the line everyday!A popular comic strip that poked fun at the Rev. Jerry Falwell without incident one week ago was deemed too controversial to run over the weekend because this time it took a humorous swipe at Muslim fundamentalists.

At least one of the balls — which were dropped by helicopter to children in Khost province in eastern Afghanistan on Friday — carried a small picture of the Saudi Arabian flag. The flag features in Arabic script the Islamic declaration of faith, which contains the words Allah and the Prophet Muhammad.
Villagers were "upset and angry" when they saw the ball, said Khost governor Arsalah Jamal. "They wanted to demonstrate, but we explained to them it was a mistake," he said Monday. [FOX]

CAPTIAL: Of the public kind!
I was noticing the Republican debates are on tonight ... with a huge yawn I moved on. Then I thought ... the reason I'm yawning is that neither party has any public capital with me.We are like sheep being led to the slaughter. The Apostle Paul tells us ...
- There isn't a "candidate" in either party that could give me the sense he/she is a people's president.
- In fact other than Fred the DA I can't think of a singe politician I have any respect for (perhaps the reason Freddy resonates with many is that he is not a politician).
- There isn't a "candidate" in either party that has any public capital to spend on me.
- There isn't a "Dirty Harry" in the whole bunch; either side of the aisle.
- There is not one - Christian, Jew, Muslim, Atheist or Agnostic - that inspires me with their worldviews, their morals/ethics, their commitment to whatever, or their zeal for what they believe.
Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.Man, we've done some REAL evil, cause I'm scared spitless!
Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority?

MASSACRE: A Life and Death Paradox
I was long ago rendered numb to tragedies like the Virginia Tech massacre. My mind is far too conscious of the evil man can deliver to his neighbors; with each occurrence I simply see another of many more to come.
I proclaim in the name of Jesus this is a glorious week. The tragedy at VTU will pale in the light of the lives saved by our national high court's decision today.The Supreme Court today narrowly upheld a nationwide ban on a controversial abortion procedure, handing a major victory to President Bush and his social conservative allies.And yet the beat goes on, as thousands more die each hour from normal abortion routines.
In a 5-4 vote, the court ruled that the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, which Bush signed into law in 2003, does not violate a woman's right to have an abortion, which has been the law of the land since the landmark 1973 ruling in Roe v. Wade.
