POLITICAL CORRECTNESS: 100 well-reasoned reasons PC must die or death will visit its practitioners!
I hate filth for filth's sake ... but the truth concerning censorship is found in this list of timeless secular wisdom, and it applies so specifically to that contemporary form of censorship we call political correctness!
Mark Twain said it best ..."Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it." [The Forbidden Library]And good ol' Ben Franklin in his Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759, added this ..."They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." [The Forbidden Library; quoted out of context I fear, yet it is applicable to censorship]Is there a place in society for censorship? Yes! In the home where real training and formulation of the future takes place. (Proverbs 22:6)

JIHAD (Hard & Soft): ephemeral links by their common ancestry!
The CRIB's periodically fugacious ...SOFT - There ought to be more of these if people really understood the inherent duplicity of the people called Muslims ... [Yahoo! News]A Muslim charity and five of its former leaders were convicted Monday of funneling millions of dollars to the Palestinian militant group Hamas, finally handing the government a signature victory in its fight against terrorism funding.SOFT - "Under a settlement of a federal religious discrimination lawsuit, up to 100 Somali Muslims who are current or former workers of a St. Cloud, Minnesota, meatpacking plant will receive a total of $365,000." We must stop more immigration of Muslims ... period! [One News Now; h/t Europe News]SOFT - A non-profit group has erected a 48 ft. billboard along side Interstate 75 (Detroit) in opposition to Islamic Sharia Law, a legal system that is a growing threat to the Constitution. "The billboard ... states "Sharia Law Threatens America". [Right Side News; h/t Europe News]HARD - (11/26/2008) a thousand Egyptian Coptic Christians were trapped inside their church in Cairo, when more than twenty thousand Muslims attacked them.
[Aina News; h/t Europe News]SOFT - Either 1.) I am an Islamophobe, 2.) these people are self-deceived (let alone of questionable intelligence), 3.) there is a global conspiracy to capitulate to Islamic indoctrination and domination or, 4.) they are members of entrenched academia. [FAIR; h/t Islamophobia Watch]SOFT - Ezra Lavant, a Canadian Jew, writer, and blogger, has been a one-man battlewagon against Canada's HRCs (Human Rights Commissions), those Gestapo-like censors of free-speech in the frozen north, and their cohorts itinerant professional Muslim libel tourists ... it appears he and his supporters may be winning. [Ezra Lavant]NEUTRAL - Recent reports highlight the difficulty of interfaith dialogues ... especially those between Catholics and Muslims. [Areopagus]

CRISTOPHOBIA: Palin's religion dinigrated again!
Implied in that phrase is a warning to listeners: WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO HEAR IS CLOUDED BY THE DANGEROUS TEACHINGS OF A THREAT TO GLOBAL SECURITY AND YOU AND YOUR FAMILY'S WELFARE!
Unless for ulterior reasons, it is unnecessary to highlight a candidate's religious convictions.
According to Barack Obama's own testimony he "is most definitely Christian." He said as much in his interview with Bill O'Reilly. And yet O'Reilly (to his credit) did not introduce him with the same appellation.
It is just as necessary that an atheist candidate not allow his personal spiritual convictions to adversely affect his political decisions and/or actions as it is for a Christian, Buddhist, or Mormon to not allow theirs to do so.
Very few authentic-Christians wear their faith on their sleeves; even fewer are publicly aggressive about their faith.

OBAMA-AYERS: Free speech and the Marxist connection!
Barack Obama vs. Free Speech | Brain TerminalThe MSM (and many online pundits) is frettin about Americans who believe Obama is a Muslim! Apparently some surveys suggest as many as 12% or more of American adults still think he is a closet Muslim, including most Muslims.
Fighting Back Against Obama’s Thugs | “7.62mm Justice” ™
This doesn't worry me (especially since I don't support him for other reasons); what troubles me deeply is his and his wife's Marxist hearts!
You see if his heart is unclear in his renunciation of his association with unrepentant domestic terrorist Wm. Ayers, then where his heart is re Muhammad versus Christ is a moot question in this life!
At issue today are the implications of the Obama campaign's legal actions to stifle free speech.
Evan Coyne Maloney asks rhetorically, "If Senator Barack Obama becomes president, will he use the power of government to stifle speech he doesn’t like?"
In my mind someone who is willing to wield his power, privilege, and position to use the government to smash an opponent is someone to be concerned with.Sen. Barack Obama has launched an all-out effort to block a Republican billionaire’s efforts to tie him to domestic and foreign terrorists in a wave of negative television ads.According to Politico ...
Obama’s campaign has written the Department of Justice demanding a criminal investigation of the "American Issues Project," the vehicle through which Dallas investor Harold Simmons is financing the advertisements.
The Obama campaign -- and tens of thousands of supporters -- also is pressuring television networks and affiliates to reject the ads. The effort has met with some success: CNN and Fox News are not airing the attacks. The Obama campaign plans to punish the stations that air the ad financially, an Obama aide said, organizing his supporters to target the stations that air it and their advertisers. [...]Michelle Malkin has a video up here. [HT - 762 Justice]
"Obama supporters have now sent more than 93,000 e-mails to the Sinclair stations that have decided to run the ad," said Obama’s spokesman Tommy Vietor. "Other stations that follow Sinclair’s lead should expect a similar response from people who don’t want the political discourse cheapened with these false, negative attacks."It’s interesting that the Obama campaign has not yet contested any of the facts in the ad. If the ad is "an appalling lie, a disgraceful smear of the lowest kind" as the Obama campaign maintains, then demonstrate what statements are false. And then maybe sue for defamation.Maloney nails it with this ...The problem for Obama isn’t that the revolutionary organization run by Ayers and his wife bombed U.S. targets when Obama was a kid, the problem is that even today the only regret Ayers has is that he wasn’t successful in overthrowing the government. [More ... ]Why the MSM is not all over this story is a mystery to most of us.
I am becoming convince that America doesn't want this cool and charismatic man near the White House, any more than I want Rev. Wright near their salvation.

CENSORSHIP: There is a difference!
UPDATE: FoxNews.com reports on the "self-censorship" and the cowardly ethics of Random House publishers, giving in to intimidation. How, I ask you, HOW can we combat an insidious evil if those around us run at every shadow and capitulate at every threat?
Click here to read Prologue to The Jewel of Medina.**** ****The only difference between the things which offend Muslims and the things which offend Christians is the potential.Muslims Offended Again. Publisher Takes “Firm Stand” | Brussels JournalSee also my earlier post and link ...
SHARIA: Arriving on your doorstep soon! | SHEEP'S CRIB - ISSUES
With Muslims you might get a riot or two with a few hundred burned cars, or perhaps a homicide bomber in one of your grocery stores or in the lobby of one of your police academies; with Christians you get thousands of emails, hundreds of letters, and dozens of phone calls, or perhaps you might get a line of pickets or a boycott.
This bigoted disparity seems to be missed by those who continue to produce material offensive to Christians: for TV {e.g., the visual trash known as Swingtown (on CBS) and Kath & Kim (on NBC}, for the theater (e.g., Sex and the City from New Line Cinema/TimeWarner), for the bookshelf (e.g., Brown's The Da Vinci Code or Hitchens' God Is Not Great) and for the public square (e.g., queer parades in Boston and San Francisco).
If you can find the time, count for me the number of deaths, the number of bombs, and the value of property damaged by Christians as a result of any of the above.
What troubles me is the aggravating absence of voices from the left, crying censorship. Clearly, if Christians so much as blink at something that is offensive to them, lefties flood the streets with deafening cries of censorship.
Mark my words, if and when Obama loses the 2008 presidential election, lefties in this country will raise a whirlwind of accusations about de facto racism, which is just another way of saying the whities of America censored their man due to his skin color.
It wouldn't occur to black-America that they in fact did censor John McCain because of his skin color.

SHARIA: Arriving on your doorstep soon!
This is the kind of subtle change that is taking place all over the Western landscape, as Islam continues to find lackeys and capitulators among the leftists of the world.
We can look but we will not find any academics or activists crying "censorship" here (see also here).

PROPHETIC VOICE: WW III is well under way; the mindless masses haven't noticed!
These three articles and recent geopolitical events made me realize - it may become necessary to admit that I'm an alarmist! Not yet but soon ... if I am wrong!
I believe the greatly maligned and feared Third World War has already begun; it will not be a conventional war but one of stealth, yet every bit as dangerous as a shooting war.
I believe it began during the infamous protest movements of the 60s [HT: Black Kettle] and the 70s; the failed presidency of Jimmie Carter only accelerated its arrival.
I believe the presidency of Ronald Reagan only served to delay the inevitable.
I believe those world leaders and geopolitical groups, that long to unseat Western Civilization from its global throne, have discovered our leaders are fools and dupes (also here, here, and here).
I believe the bravado behind Russia's revanchist invasion of Georgia to be clear evidence of Russia's opinion of Western leaders, especially American leaders.
I also believe the world's iconification of Jimmie Carter, Yaser Arafat, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and Barack Obama (also here) is evidence of this.
I believe our diplomatic failures (here and here also), since 9/11, reveal American and European leaders for what they are: duplicitous - absent vision and backbone, with a yellow stripe up their backs as wide as an Interstate; for the most part they are self-obsessed, greedy, historically out of touch with reality, and incapable of speaking truth!
I believe Muslims are right when they say Western leaders have no will for the long fight; the high price is no longer exacted from totalitarian states or their leaders.
I believe an omnipotent force, far outside any and all natural forces, is at work to orchestrate a global conflict that will make the first two World Wars look like a sandbox fight between two year-olds.
I believe the world is slouching towards Gomorrah faster than Robert Bork could have ever grasped.
I believe liberalism, that pernicious and omnipresent evil and constant antagonist for common sense, is nothing more than socialism in drag.I believe there may be a supernatural power simultaneously weakening the EU and strengthening Muslim hegonomy in Europe. The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.
HT: Brain Terminal
I believe the real child molesters and pedophiles are here and here; and this only plays into the hands of sycophantish globalists who use these social issues to confuse and obfuscate.
I believe the erosion of common sense and free speech in the West, in parallel with the global ascendancy of hate crimes legislation and political correctness, is evidence of a worldview so pervasive, so dysfunctional, and so corrosive most elitists ridicule its existence.
I believe an incomplete and incorrect eschatology is responsible for much of the sin in and the impotence of the contemporary Judeo-Christian worldview.
I believe events are cascading so rapidly that there may be no time left to save our way of life and the liberties we so dearly cherish.
I believe we must wake up and smell the cordite.

HOMOSEXUALS: LGBT - a gaggle of bullies!
Though the people of California have voted their opinion of same-sex marriage more than once, those a little light in their loafers have risen from their soiled beds and thrown back the majority each time.
Apparently, finding cowards and co-conspirators among California's legislative and judicial elites is as easy as staging a leftist parade in Berkley without a permit.
But the tables were recently turned when the state's Supremes ruled an amendment to the constitution to declare marriage in California "between a man and a woman" could go forward on the November 4 ballot.
Not being able to take no for an answer, even since childhood, these middle-aged neo-hippies took up bullying as a means to their ends.
LGBT's inability to allow the majority to rule reminds me of what Antony Flew recently said of atheist Richard Dawkins: "they have become what they and their fellow secularists typically believe to be an impossibility: namely, secular bigots." [CRIB paraphrase]
Flew clarifies that his "copy of The Oxford Dictionary defines a bigot as ‘an obstinate or intolerant adherent of a point of view.’"
There is no question in my mind any longer, some of the biggest bigots in our culture today are gays, black activists, democrats, feminists, and liberals of every hue.
I find it offensive to the nth degree that the lucre-marinated, boycott obsessed, free speech spouting LGBT would object to Doug Manchester and others exercising their freedom to speak their convictions and spend their money as they see fit.

NEW YORKER: A college education is no guarantee of intelligent life!
Obama says New Yorker insulted Muslim Americans | Yahoo! NewsRush got this one right ... he said today, before his golden EIB microphone, The New Yorker was trying to blindside conservatives, but ended up poking themselves in the eye. [my loose paraphrase]
Publication of the above cover is generating thousands of additional readers and millions of dollars worth of free advertising ... but controversy continues all around. I have to admit Obama's response in the linked report is far better than the left's response.
What the left needs to remember: if the Big Apple's flagship magazine were in leftist Canada they'd be sued and forced before a human rights tribunal. How good is it to live and work in America? Better than they can imagine.
If libel terrorists had their way the New Yorker and all other American publications would be prevented from exercising any rights of free speech and press.
But overall, reading the MSM and the blogosphere, I'm left with the feeling Phil Gramm was also right but didn't go far enough ... we're not only a nation of whiners, we also take ourselves way too serious.
My friend Mark Coffey of Decision '08 fame said it best ...I love this country, but I’m not so fond of many of its citizens. We are now so stupid that perhaps an enlightened despotism would be the best form of government going forward (note to those suffering from irony deficiencies - I’m kidding!) …
JUDICIAL TERRORISM: The rising tide of anti-American "lawfare"!
Sens. Arlen Spector and Joe LIbermann have teamed up to bring legislation before the Congress that needs our support.
In today's Wall Street Journal's Op Ed page is a marvelously encouraging summary of "the Free Speech Protection Act of 2008."Our bill bars U.S. courts from enforcing libel judgments issued in foreign courts against U.S. residents, if the speech would not be libelous under American law. The bill also permits American authors and publishers to countersue if the material is protected by the First Amendment. If a jury finds that the foreign suit is part of a scheme to suppress free speech rights, it may award treble damages. This is much needed legislation ...HT: Black KettleOur Constitution is one of our greatest assets in the fight against terrorism. A free-flowing marketplace of ideas, protected by the First Amendment, enables the ideals of democracy to defeat the totalitarian vision of al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.
That free marketplace faces a threat. Individuals with alleged connections to terrorist activity are filing libel suits and winning judgments in foreign courts against American researchers who publish on these matters. These suits intimidate and even silence writers and publishers.
Let's contact our senators and congressmen and put our support where it is needed. This one area of a free press I can get behind.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH: I don't get it?
Sensible Canadians (yes, there are many) are fighting to preserve freedom of speech in the frozen land north of us; the details of which are voluminous; too much for my humble blog. You can get excellent background here (Ezra Levant), here (Mark Steyn), both great communicators and commenters, and here (Blogging Tories).
However, a relatively new target (of the Canadian thought police) is the not so funny comedian Guy Earle. Guy's crime, it seems, was rebuking a drunk Lesbian heckler during his time on stage at a gay night club. The charges of un-funniness -- which the B.C. Human Rights Code calls "discriminatory publication" -- came after Earle's rough response to some drunk, rude hecklers in a Vancouver night club last year. The B.C. Human Rights Tribunal ruled that there was enough substance to the charges that Earle must stand trial. [Levant]What I don't get is this: if Earle's crime was offending the Dike for being a Dike, why can't Earle file a complaint with the same commission (HRC) about her offending (heckling while working is always offensive) him as a comedian? After all, it was his employment she went after? Clearly, I'm missing something.
Each of the free speech cases I look at seems to have the same character: the complainant accuses someone of a "hate crime" and the thought police go after him for offending sensibilities ... those of both the complainant and the public. Yet the vitriol in the complainant's complaint is ignored.
The offended are evidently free to say any offensive thing that comes to mind about the defendant, his family, his occupation, his religion, his race, his nationality, etc. ... even call him names, publicly.
Sorry! I just don't get that kind of law!
