Lamp of the World

History will record this as the most unread post ever.

The other day I read the sad story of a 24 year old Washington man who accidently killed himself with a lava lamp. A lava lamp is a ‘60s deco piece made of glass, oil, colored wax, and a light bulb. For some reason the young man had tried to heat his lamp on a stove top … predictably it blew up, a glass shard piercing his heart. He evidently went to his bedroom to lay down ... he died.

Seems to me the tragedy is anecdotal of people in every age who've tried to find another way to do things. Many of their efforts have resulted in marvelous progress; far too many have resulted in heartbreak or worse.
Likewise, people have been trying to find an easier way into heaven … Jesus said false beleivers attempt to climb the wall to get in. The truth is there is only one way into heaven: Jesus, the lamp of the world, has to pierce your heart, that you might die to self, that you might live forever.
