CONSERVATIVES: The future of values voting!
David Brooks, in an advice column to the forlorn says,... the Reformers [what I call centrist-Republicans], argue that the old GOP priorities were fine for the 1970s but need to be modernized for new conditions.The "new conditions" he alludes to are homosexuality (promoted by heterophobes), abortion on demand, Global warming (a scientific cult), Europeanization, Constitutional reconstructionism (anti-Americanism), globalism, big and leftist government, etc. Theories cloned by leftists in the American academic laboratory.
He goes on to say,The reformers tend to believe that American voters will not support a party whose main idea is slashing government. The Reformers propose new policies to address inequality and middle-class economic anxiety. They tend to take global warming seriously. They tend to be intrigued by the way David Cameron has modernized the British Conservative Party.Brooks obviously doesn't read the conservative British press or the Brussels Journal. R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr., responds to Brooks in The American Spectator,As for the Reformers' wariness about the popularity of limited government, according to a Rasmussen survey conducted on October 2, 59% of the respondents agreed with President Reagan's declaration in his first inaugural address that "Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem."For those of you who were raised on "new math," that's six in every ten voters - regardless of party. Brooks' "Reform" minded conservative is what the Republicans just ran for president ... a reach across the aisle guy, who was soundly defeated. Sarah Palin is what Brooks argues against. Our party ran just what the Dems wanted it to run, a beatable middle-of-the-roader. Pshaw! The laugh is on the "Reformers."
People are wondering what is going to happen to the party and its conservatives. I would put the question differently: what will conservatives do with the Republican and Democratic parties?
I believe conservativism and traditionalism transcend parties (as the Rasmussen poll indicates); I believe both movements, because they are issue oriented, must shun party labels; I believe labels hinder and divide. I believe conservatives must vote the candidates who are on the issues we value ... even if they are Blue Dogs.
And, yes, I believe we must separate our religion from our politics in order to avoid divisions and labels on the issues conservatives agree on.
No one wants to believe their worldview is wrong, but someone's must be ... we can't all be right! That's why it is important to side with the issues, everything else is popularity driven.

Implied in that phrase is a warning to listeners: WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO HEAR IS CLOUDED BY THE DANGEROUS TEACHINGS OF A THREAT TO GLOBAL SECURITY AND YOU AND YOUR FAMILY'S WELFARE!
Unless for ulterior reasons, it is unnecessary to highlight a candidate's religious convictions.
According to Barack Obama's own testimony he "is most definitely Christian." He said as much in his interview with Bill O'Reilly. And yet O'Reilly (to his credit) did not introduce him with the same appellation.
It is just as necessary that an atheist candidate not allow his personal spiritual convictions to adversely affect his political decisions and/or actions as it is for a Christian, Buddhist, or Mormon to not allow theirs to do so.
Very few authentic-Christians wear their faith on their sleeves; even fewer are publicly aggressive about their faith.

GIBSON: ABC's Palin interview accomplishes nothing for the left!
The point of this post is not to congratulate Governor Palin for one-upping ABC's Charles Gibson, or to bash Gibson for his condescending and irritating smugness, or to reveal some money quote everyone else missed!
No, it's to complain loudly about the media's continued presumption that they and they alone determine who runs for national office in this country, and with what credentials they must run. Who died and left them in charge of our elections?
When anyone, myself included, filters questions through his own worldview, the interview ceases to be investigative journalism and it becomes a stealth opinion piece.
Gibson's, over the top of his glasses, interrogation was the epitomy of staged foolishness. Palin's chair was obviously lower than his, giving her a hunchbacked posture (they must have removed the ticking from her seat); his questions were designed to catch the lady in a faux paux. And the lower camera angle, used to shoot from the starboard side of the duo, added an extra six inches to Gibson's height.
Our nation is a free and democratic republic, we abide by the rule of law and the paramount law of this land is our Constitution.
I find nowhere in the body of that great document (specifically concerning who qualifies for election) that any American, once meeting the citizenship and age limits, must endure an arbitrary and hostile media gauntlet or that they must present a said certain resume in order to run national office.
Our nation's leaders are elected by popular vote, under an electoral college umbrella. Any citizen may run for the office of Vice President (assuming citizenship and age qualification) and, if elected by the people, may serve until his or her term expires or until removed for cause, regardless of experience. That's what prevents us from becoming a nation of elitists ... like Charles Gibson.
I am so sick of the mindless main stream media and their leftist/socialists friends. I thought I was sick of politicians ... that was nothing to the nausea I'm having over the American media and their global cousins.

CHILD ABUSE: The Dems corner the market!

Given the chance, the grown up "children" that have become the current party and their immature supporters, the democrats lose no time abusing anyone and everyone that is not a part of their worldview ... even children.
I love the grace and compassion expressed in the Palin family's response to the Dem's attack dogs ... I pray you agree.

WORLDVIEW: How disappointment and expectations play a role in the development of our worldviews!
My wife and I were discussing the various worldviews of our six children, six very different views. It occurred to us our one and only college graduate had developed the most liberal worldview (college will change your kids, count on it); but a peace filled my mind and heart, for God's word promises a certain outcome.Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6I told my wife it seemed to me our worldviews were honed on disappointment; we should all understand by now that disappointment results from unfulfilled expectation. The peace comes from the certainty of God's promises ... no disappointment there!
For believers, any and all world-based expectation will breed disappointment, resulting in life-changing experience. I know! That is how my worldview has come to be.

HUMAN RIGHTS: What wisdom absent the fear of God looks like!
The Brussels Journal is a thorn in the flesh of the EU's leftist-elitocracy and a great voice for the threatened conservatives of Europe. Due to the brouhaha over HRCs (Human Rights Commissions) going on inside the borders of our frozen neighbor to the north, one particularly quote caught my eye ...According to the politically-correct politicians and ideologues who wrote these bills [anti-discrimination laws], human races do not exist because all people are equal. If races do not exist, however, racists cannot exist either. Hence, racism has been redefined. Racists are people who discriminate on the basis of “presumed” or “so-called” race. Non-PC people realize, of course, that consequently the people prosecuted on the basis of these laws are presumed or so-called racists. [CRIB emphasis]How beautiful are the words of those who think thoroughly and critically.
I have tried to separate my blogs from the day-to-day machinations of geopolitics and Caesar's affairs but am finding it nearly impossible to do so. The fact is, so much of what is going on in the world today is so patently anti-Judeo-Chrisitian that we can't ignore the threat to the free proclamation of the Gospel of Grace and the Kingdom of God.
According to the type of legislation alluded to above, those without a Judeo-Christian worldview are ipso facto presumed free of discriminatory tendencies ... thus, those with such a worldview are by default guilty of such discrimination. The only evidentiary requirement is that the accusation originate with a member of the first group.
The HRCs are merely the state's mechanism to document the guilt of the accused ... not to hear the facts concerning accusations.
If you are a conservative voice in your world, I recommend The Brussels Journal, a gleaning field for excellent conservative thought and practice (with a European aroma of course).
Remember, what has generally passed as academic, intellectual, and humane in the US of A, over the past two centuries, has percolated up from manifold philosophical cesspools in Europe, traveled north through subaqueous sewers, filtered through the frozen tundra of French-Canadian academic intelligence, and ultimately seeped across the border into blue-state American thinking. [It is my firm conviction that the American-left has never had an original thought in its entire history!]
Man, absent an authentic fear of God, is left to his own understanding and wisdom when he tries to govern the people ... HRCs are evidence of his intellectual poverty!

ANGLICAN ANGST: Rowan Williams can't see the forest or the trees!
Not much difference between the two in many respects; both are/were mouthpieces for once great but failed human institutions, both have spoken absurdly on geo-social issues, and both are/were not known for being the brightest bulbs in the room.
Williams, in a recent interview with a Muslim propaganda machine, waxed eloquently (as Brit intellectuals are fond of doing ... bless them) about world affairs ...How is it a man of his experience and intelligence cannot see the specific application of his own words to the global actions of Muslim extremists since pre-1948 times? Is he unaware that his own nation has been involved it the Iraq War since its inception? Duh!“We have only one global hegemonic power,” he said according to London’s Telegraph newspaper. “It is not accumulating territory: it is trying to accumulate influence and control. That’s not working.[CRIB emphasis]
“It is one thing to take over a territory and then pour energy and resources in to administering it and normalizing it. Rightly or wrongly, that’s what the British Empire did in India, for example,” added Williams, who has been a long-time critic of the war in Iraq.
“It is another thing to go in on the assumption that a quick burst of violent action will somehow clear the decks and that you can move on and other people will put it back together – Iraq, for example.”
Is Williams saying that what is good for the goose is verboten for the gander? Both can be right, or both wrong, in their choice of methodologies - but one cannot be wrong and the other right!

EMERGENT ANARCHY: Shooting oneself in the foot!
Philosophical anarchy can be described as ...A system of thinking in the field of knowledge which leads to a belief in the eradication of "all direct or coercive government as a political ideal" and that "proposes the cooperative and voluntary association of individuals and groups as the principal mode of organized society" without formal government.Communism is and was is a philosophical anarchist movement, perverted and corrupt as it is and was.
Ecclesiastical anarchy can be described in a similar fashion ...A system of thinking in the field of ecclesiology (or theology) which leads to a belief in the eradication of "all direct or coercive government as a theological ideal" (i.e., I think perhaps a pure theocracy) and that "proposes the cooperative and voluntary association of believers and churches as the principal mode of organized Christian society" without governmental hierarchy.The emerging church movement is an ecclesiastical anarchist movement; as idealistic and energetic as it is, it is at its roots an ecclesiastical anarchy ... nothing more and nothing less.
Emergents are not alone today (2007) ... the Anglican Global Communion is currently having its own run-in with this destructive force. Ironically, just as amongst the Emergents, the Anglicans anarchists deny their classic anarchy.
Anarchists apparently do not understand or deny the power of collective wisdom and experience; instead they prefer to repeat past errors in order to experientially acquire an independent philosophy of life or worldview.
For those of us who continue honor history and tradition (those who desire but often fail to avoid the errors of the past), we see Emergents as dismissing the collective wisdom of our historical and theological ancestors, something human experience and Scripture warn against.
G. K. Chesteron: "tradition is only democracy extended through time." [Orthodoxy, chapter 4] He says we should give more credence to the hero than the historian for the latter was not there. He said he is more inclined to believe the democratic ideas of the masses over those of the literary classes since their collective wisdom is that of the ages and not the moment.
One should not trust the idealism of the youth over that of the seasoned and elder member of a tribe; even though that elder was at one time an idealistic youth with idealistic beliefs.
