PROPHETIC VOICE: America is dying but I'm not laughing!
I'm increasingly concerned about the destructive potential of contemporary partisan politics on our great nation - both parties; the objective of representative government is to "represent" the people and their views, not the party and its views.
Post-Obama victory Democrats are learning this lesson the hard way; as did the Republican base with George 43.Republicans spend most of their time positioning themselves contra the Democrats, and vice versa; whatever time they have left they spend electioneering or railing against the opposition.
History may well confirm we fulfilled Tocqueville's prophecy concerning the fall of the American experiment.America is great because she is good. GOP: Some people can write but few people make sense when they do!
I'm beginning to love the way Jonah Goldberg thinks; a young Charles Krauthammer with practical insight and sensitivity concerning authentic conservatism.
Or am I missing something? Perhaps he is a bit vague or obtuse concerning what he means by "social and religious conservatives."

CONSERVATIVES: The future of values voting!
David Brooks, in an advice column to the forlorn says,... the Reformers [what I call centrist-Republicans], argue that the old GOP priorities were fine for the 1970s but need to be modernized for new conditions.The "new conditions" he alludes to are homosexuality (promoted by heterophobes), abortion on demand, Global warming (a scientific cult), Europeanization, Constitutional reconstructionism (anti-Americanism), globalism, big and leftist government, etc. Theories cloned by leftists in the American academic laboratory.
He goes on to say,The reformers tend to believe that American voters will not support a party whose main idea is slashing government. The Reformers propose new policies to address inequality and middle-class economic anxiety. They tend to take global warming seriously. They tend to be intrigued by the way David Cameron has modernized the British Conservative Party.Brooks obviously doesn't read the conservative British press or the Brussels Journal. R. Our party ran just what the Dems wanted it to run, a beatable middle-of-the-roader. Pshaw! The laugh is on the "Reformers."
People are wondering what is going to happen to the party and its conservatives. I would put the question differently: what will conservatives do with the Republican and Democratic parties?
I believe conservativism and traditionalism transcend parties (as the Rasmussen poll indicates); I believe both movements, because they are issue oriented, must shun party labels; I believe labels hinder and divide. I believe conservatives must vote the candidates who are on the issues we value ... even if they are Blue Dogs.
And, yes, I believe we must separate our religion from our politics in order to avoid divisions and labels on the issues conservatives agree on.
No one wants to believe their worldview is wrong, but someone's must be ... we can't all be right! That's why it is important to side with the issues, everything else is popularity driven.

McCAIN-PALIN: Give me a break John!
I'm sorry but I think John McCain is full of piffle!
Yesterday I watched Greta's at home interview (video here) with Sarah Palin and then Jay Leno's interview of John McCain on his Tonight Show ... when all was said and done, I thought there was class and low class!
Seems to me the Maverick was more like a trained circus pony and the "Diva" from Wasilla was the beautiful lady on the Wire.
The Senator from Arizona was more like a Washington insider than I have ever seen him, more interested in getting a laugh than defending his running mate.
The Governor from Alaska, on the other hand, was staunch in her defense of the Senator and was gracious in her complimenting of him.
The fact that he did not chastise those responsible for the false and vicious back-bitting and petty rumor mongering was enough for me to regret my vote for him; his failure to categorically deny the validity of the criticisms left me speechless!
AAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

ELECTION 2008: A few morning after thoughts!
The people have spoken; but what have they said?
Was it really the people who spoke or the MSM? Have we really seen the full extent of ACORN voter fraud?
I'm not nearly as depressed as I thought I would be. No Super Majority is good news. The Republican voice in America will be squeaky for some time to come, laryngitic for sure. I blame Dubya for that!
Certainly the Bush administration and Neocons were repudiated, but what else?
Many are saying the Republicans were punished, but for what? Don't give me perceptions ... what in reality?
The bailout? Then why weren't Democrats punished?
I don't think I've seen in my life time a more gullible electorate.
Some have said conservatism was a target of voter angst ... really? But conservatism is not dead ... lame, but not dead!
Certainly the right (Republican/conservative) side of the nation must feel much as the left (Democrat/liberal) side did in 2000 and 2004?
The next four years will be one for the history books. If our leftist/liberal fellow-citizens raise the specter of American racism one more time I'm gonna go ballistic!
McCain was not my first choice as I've said many times, but The One has won and is now, like it or not, our president. This is the greatest country in the history of the world and, for the moment, is the envy of the world.
My fervent prayer is for God to guide President Obama in all that he says, thinks, does, and feels as he leads on a hostile world stage ... the population of the world will be watching.
My deepest fear is that he is a precursor to the Antichrist and the people of this world will be lulled into a somnambulant euphoria.

You read my head right! I predict it will be the headline of every major news organization sometime prior to the scheduled October debate between Palin & Biden!
Obama is spending most of his time dealing with Palin, when he should be focused on his race with McCain. Meanwhile Biden is virtually unseen in the MSM.
And Obama and Slick Willie are due to have lunch at the latter's office tomorrow. It is not too much of a stretch (what with the polls being as they are) for the retiring head of the Democratic Party and possibly the next head of the same party to get together and figure out how to stop the bleeding.
Even CBS is pondering the possible! Well, it's my story and I'm sticking to it!

In my humble opinion, this is a day of celebration for Republicans ... Lott to me is archetypical of all that's wrong with the GOP today.
