GLOBAL WARMING: The lie that keeps on giving!
Global warming is messing with our lives; we're beginning to think the New York times has a point: the leadership of our "Democratic" republic should order the auto industry to stop producing SUVs and Vans as a pre-condition of any bailout.
Ten months ago tomorrow, we moved from a sunny seaside resort in Mexico to a tree filled arroyo in Missouri. Last winter we survived temperatures as low as 44 °F on the shores of Mar de Cortés, and then as low 22 °F here in our new home state.
This morning, in just ten short months, according to the plastic thingy on our back porch, it's 10 °F around our small scrape of Missouri. Damn climate change!

OPINION: Ignore your base in politics at your own peril!
In the same way Michael Malone is ashamed of his present association with Journalism [h/t News Busters], I'm ashamed of my present association with and support of another major American institution ... the GOP and its Neo-cons!Like the Russian Roulette player who thought you had to remove one bullet rather than the other five, the shakers and movers of the Grand Ole Party of the Republic have managed to blow their brains out, but haven't a clue why.
The situation the conservative base now finds itself in (an impending Super Majority) should never have happened. These idiots went into government service to change politics and instead were themselves changed by it.
As Limbaugh continues to remind us, Reagan was and is revered because he appealed to the conservative base across all party lines, races, politics, ethnicities, religions, and cultures. And he did it lightheartedly and with a spring in his step and a smile on his face. The Gipper was and is the personification of an ideal that appeals to all conservative Americans.
The reason the liberals in America are winning is that their leadership, unlike ours, know their base and appeal to it -60s radicals, socialists, middle-aged flower-children, neo-commies, victims of "the system," black-racists, relativists, iconoclasts, cultural demagogs, closet anarchists, anti-American Americans, east and west coast snobs and elitists, the MSM, protesters, rebels, the unemployed and unemployable, immigrants, ethnic minorities, entitlists, the uneducated, the ill-informed, the ignorant, druggies, unions and union workers, special interest groups, and anyone who is willing to sell his soul and his country for a price.Barack Obama is a perfect fit for the liberal base; John McCain was and is not even a modest fit for the conservative base ... it's a shame Sarah Palin is not at the head of the ticket. If the MSM and the federal super majority in DC do not fix it so she can't, I will support her for the conservative ticket till hell freezes over in four years, if she runs.
It's going to be a long four years, a sloggingly long four years. God help us!

Some estrogen deprived, middle-aged bitty at the SF Chron (probably a lesbo who plays mattress polo with Gavin on their lunch hour) does a hit piece on an everyday Joe and feels good about it. Great, go back to your Mill Valley nest and sleep the sleep of a child of Dracula.
Good grief, what makes these people tick? What kind of parents foist kids like this on the landscape?
First, the man "Joe the plumber" never said he was a "licensed" plumber! Only that he wants to buy his employer's plumbing business.
Second, a lot of people in the Democratic party owe back taxes; does the name Charley "the cheat" Rangel ring any bells? The fact that taxes are owed doesn't make anyone a "tax cheat." Gawd!!!!
Third, how can anyone in the media, with a straight face, use the phrase "Joe the Plumber's story"? It was never his story! It was and still is the media's story!
Fourth, what has happened to the media? We live in a free nation, with open borders between our member states. My wife and I have lived in six different states: Southern California, Northern California, Arizona, Idaho, Kansas, and Mizzurah! What are we illegal gypsies?
I am so sick of the role the media plays in our daily lives; can someone please find a cure for them?

Ken Timmerman has done some digging and the answer is yes. Ms. Carpenter had the right man.Civil rights activist Percy Sutton said he was solicited by a man named Dr. Khalid al Mansour to send a letter of reccomendation on behalf of Barack Obama to help him gain acceptance to Harvard many years ago. (This video and transcript is at the bottom of the post)And al Mansour (aka Don Warden) has views similar to Ayers and Dorhn it seems.
But who is Khalid al Mansour and how did he know Barack Obama? A cursory search on Youtube turns up several controversial clips, in the vein of Obama's longtime friend and former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
But there's more. Mr. Obama wants your guns ... and it is not to admire them. News Busters passes on a WSJ report via On Tap ..."If you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it." Obama said. But the Illinois senator could still see skeptics in the crowd, particularly on the faces of several men at the back of the room.He wants them, oh how he wants them ... he just doesn't "have the votes." Perhaps this is the legislation he's been waiting to author? Does he plan to give them to his radical friends?
So he tried again. "Even if I want to take them away, I don’t have the votes in Congress," he said. "This can’t be the reason not to vote for me. Can everyone hear me in the back? I see a couple of sportsmen back there. I’m not going to take away your guns."
This is reminiscent of other disparaging comments about guns and gun owners from times past. The two guys in the back were not reassured.

If it hadn't been in the WSJ I would have doubted this story ...Police arrested and shot to death Sunday the head of an Internet news service who had been critical of authorities in the volatile Caucasus province of Ingushetia.The story is incomplete in the linked page because it i's a teaser to a WSJ subscription page.
The death of Magomed Yevloyev, owner of the Web site Ingushetiya.ru, is certain to further ratchet up tensions in the region which, along with the neighboring province of Chechnya, has been a haven for militant opponents to Kremlin authority. In recent weeks, the Kremlin has tightened security in Ingushetia, apparently fearing Russia's enemies may stir up trouble there while its troops have been occupied in Georgia.
However, other news services are reporting the same story; being unsuccessful with democracy the Soviets have indeed returned to their old tricks.In Moscow, Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said in a statement that Yevloyev was detained by police and died in an "incident" while being taken to police headquarters for an interrogation. Markin did not elaborate, saying that a check to clarify the circumstances of Yevloyev's death had begun. The committee is under the Prosecutor General's office.I'm thinking - with recent geopolitical developments in mind, who do I really want to see in the White House next year?
Yevloyev has angered regional authorities with bold criticism of police treatment of civilians in the region. A court in June ordered him to shut his site on charges of spreading "extremist" statements, but it reappeared under a different name. [elpasotimes.com]

Operation Blessing International wants American Christians and others, who just spent two weeks watching pagan China blow an estimated $40 billion dollars and use upwards of one million volunteers on this world's pagan games (oh, they were wonderful weren't they), to fund relief for Chinese citizens affected by a quake in May?
Is that right?
Sure, why not? We are and always have been the proverbial cookie jar for the world!
Oh, I know; Christians are supposed to do that kind of thing ... besides the poorest American is probably richer than 95% of the world's population. I suppose that's our fault too!

GEORGIA: What to do now that we've revealed no trump?

Discreetly, it is being suggested that counter-measures and reactions to Georgia are to be of a sort that will not anger Russia. Absurdly, this self-created inhibition implies that strong aggressors (real or alleged) should only be criticized with their consent.This is classic championship chess only in the deadly game of geopolitical oneupmanship ... our opponent makes his move and slaps the switch on the game clock, only the West is not aware the clock is ticking. In this case Russia takes our non-response response as weakness and confusion.
Concurrently, this kind of squeamishness teaches the aggressor that he is to claim early, possibly before the fact, the status of the insulted party.
It creates a welcome opportunity to become confused in the case of those who do not like clear-cut cases if these result in tough going. Thereby the claimed victim status becomes protection against having to impose effective sanctions on the impostor.

Mass rape, looting, the destruction of property can uproot conquered populations that are located in disputed territory. Well-planned spontaneous indiscriminate violence, if applied with stern vigor, produces high returns. Let's be clear, there are many Americans who agree with the point of this post!It's time to bring all the troops home. Sure, leave a base that will serve as an air bridge for points further east, but it's time to bring 'em home.Go there and find the quote above and read to the end ... perhaps you'll agree when you finish.
The war is over. Some danger may still loom, but major fighting is finished. Besides, we're spending billions per year keeping our forces over there. We've trained 'em and armed 'em. It's time their duplicitous government and weak, untested military sink or swim on their own and stop lounging under our security umbrella. Our rapid withdrawal will be just the wake up call they need to get serious and grow up.
