OBAMA: A shotgun wedding; Obama is holding the only weapon in the USA!

Board of RightsYou'll have to determine for yourselves whether Obama is a gun-grabber. However, the evidence relative to the candidate's positions on other conservative values is pretty clear ... I would suggest, if nothing else, Obama is consistent in his message! Duh!

The Velvet Hammer provides us with the following ...
... from an interview of John Lott by Dave Bose, substituting for Michael Medved on the Michael Medved radio show. Lott is currently a professor at the University of Maryland and is the author of “More Guns, Less Crime” and “Freedomonics.” Lott taught at the University of Chicago [at] the same time Obama was an instructor at Chicago. [...]

We were both at the University of Chicago. I was first in the business school and then I taught in the law school and I was there for like, five years. He was a lecturer there and – I don’t know – there were probably a couple of dozen times or whatever that we exchanged words. ... One of the things though, is that the conversations all tended to be extremely short when I was involved with him.
[John R. Lott]
The following exchange is from a transcript of the show ...
John Lott: The first time I met him, I went over and introduced myself. He said, “Oh, you’re the gun guy.”

John Lott: And I said, “Yeah, I guess so.”

John Lott: And he said, “I don’t believe people should be able to own guns.”

John Lott: And I knew he was working at, with helping out …
[John R. Lott]
Be afraid, America, be very afraid! McCain was wrong when he said we don't need to be afraid of Obama as President.

In Chuck's own words!

CENSORSHIP: The Standardized Chapel Library Project

Harrison Scott Key of WorldMag Blog makes us aware of the linked report which announces ...
Behind the walls of federal prisons nationwide, chaplains have been quietly carrying out a systematic purge of religious books and materials that were once available to prisoners in chapel libraries. [NYT]
I would expect to read this in the China Daily not in an American paper.
Traci Billingsley, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Prisons, said the agency was acting in response to a 2004 report by the Office of the Inspector General in the Justice Department. The report recommended steps that prisons should take, in light of the Sept. 11 attacks, to avoid becoming recruiting grounds for militant Islamic and other religious groups. The bureau, an agency of the Justice Department, defended its effort, which it calls the Standardized Chapel Library Project, as a way of barring access to materials that could, in its words, “discriminate, disparage, advocate violence or radicalize.” [WMB]
Key gives us a link to follow to see the banned books list (sounds more like Nazi Germany than the USA) ... my question: who makes the decision?

INDECENCY: When the Bride Fails

Today's appellate ruling reveals the failure of the Body of Christ. Follow my logic ...
  1. Public indecency is a secular issue.
  2. A citizen's freedom of speech, as we know it, is a political issue.
  3. Both indecency and free speech fluctuate at the whim of the people.
  4. Christians have freedom of speech and behavior [1 Corinthians 10:23] but moderate their speech [Ephesians 4:29] and actions [Romans 8:13] in obedience to God [Romans 12:1-2].
  5. As Bob Carlise says in his powerful gospel song We Are the People, "We are the people, and the way we make a change is only by the way we live our lives; we are the people of the Light!"
  6. If the public degenerates to the point of embarrassment, it's not the fault of sinners ... YOU CAN'T MAKE PIGS ACT LIKE SHEEP ...
  7. It's the fault of the Bride of Christ; we are chartered with the responsibility to impact the general public "by the way we live our lives" [Matthew 5:13-14].
  8. It's also prophetic of the approach of the last days [Romans 1:27; 2 Peter 3:3; Jude 1:18].
  9. The finger of blame points directly at an apostate Church.
WaPo succinctly describes the decision ...
A federal appeals court tossed out an indecency ruling against Rupert Murdoch's Fox television network yesterday and broadly questioned whether the Federal Communications Commission has the right to police the airwaves for offensive language.

In a 2 to 1 decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit in New York ruled that the FCC went too far in issuing a 2006 decision against Fox Broadcasting for separate incidents in 2002 and 2003 after singer Cher and celebrity Nicole Richie each uttered an expletive on live television.
The reason for this decision is the people's moral demise; in God's administration of things [Romans 13:1-5] it falls to His people to keep a nation and her people in line by being salt and light.
