CREATIONISM: One more time for the record - God is transcendent!

After 27 years of personal struggle with the naturalism versus supernaturalism conundrum, I've finally resolved what it is I believe ... sort of! In the beginning, my faith latched easily onto a belief that God created the natural order supernaturally ... after all, I thought, He said He did!

But, naturalists (Darwinians, Evolutionists, et al) have asked us to explain ourselves in the light of scientific evidences and discoveries ... that's a reasonable request and should be answered rationally and reasonably by those of us (not necessarily implying myself) gifted to do so.

Here is my humble conclusion regarding all 6,000 years of man's inquiries into the natural order ...

My God's Science trumps their god's science, my God's Ignorance trumps their god's knowledge, my God's foolishness trumps their god's wisdom, and my God's weakness trumps their god's power.

I could cite 1 Corinthians 1:18-21, but that could legitimately be seen as circular reasoning by non-believers; so I will stand on the transcendent and infinite nature of my God. He is, after all, my God, not their god ... I can define Him anyway my mind, heart, spirit, and soul lead me to believe Him to be.

The Creator in whom I believe is not a part of His created order, He transcends it. Outside of His revelation of what lies outside the created order, I have no window into it ... it is hidden from me. But I do know this: if the God in whom I believe is able to create the universe and all that it holds, then He must be bigger than it.

Likewise, if He created it, then, as creator of it, He holds its science in His hand ... ergo, He must have a science which trumps its science. And so on ... !

Now, because of my "circular reasoning" I can say with absolute certainty (and a straight face) that, in spite of scientific evidence to the contrary: the natural order was created, evolution is a lie; life begins at conception, abortion is murder; there is no life on other planets, UFOs are fiction; and Christ did come in the flesh.

INTELLIGENT DESIGN: What if we DID find irreducibly complex biological features?

In any debate on Intelligent Design, there is a question I have long wished to see posed to ID opponents: “If we DID discover some biological feature that was irreducibly complex, to your satisfication and to the satisfaction of all reasonable observers, would that justify the design inference?”

on this one!

We all know the answer to the question don't we?

EVOLUTION: Will the real Neanderthal please stand up?

We (people of faith) will be jumping all over this for the next few weeks. Though, like so many other good news events for the family of God, we'll have to wait and see what happens over the long run.

I am impressed, however, with the openness of the bones and booty crowd ... the chicanery in this field is notorious. Fox News reports ...

Surprising fossils dug up in Africa are creating messy kinks in the iconic straight line of human evolution with its knuckle-dragging ape and briefcase-carrying man.

The new research by famed paleontologist Meave Leakey in Kenya shows our family tree is more like a wayward bush with stubby branches, calling into question the evolution of our ancestors.

Now that's ironic; I thought the only "wayward Bush" in our family tree was alive and living well at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, WDC.

I have long suspected and am convinced that paleontologists had bitten off more than they could chew; the variables, as my mathematics daughter will tell you, make the probabilities of tying it all together at this distance astronomical.

The old theory was that the first and oldest species in our family tree, Homo habilis, evolved into Homo erectus, which then became us, Homo sapiens.

But those two earlier species lived side-by-side about 1.5 million years ago in parts of Kenya for at least half a million years, Leakey and colleagues report in a paper published in Thursday's journal Nature.

At least that's what the ex-"perts" say this year. The AP as reported through Fox gave us this clarification ...

In 2000 Leakey found an old H. erectus complete skull within walking distance of an upper jaw of the H. habilis, and both dated from the same general time period. That makes it unlikely that H. erectus evolved from H. habilis, researchers said. It's the equivalent of finding that your grandmother and great-grandmother were sisters rather than mother-daughter, said study co-author Fred Spoor, a professor of evolutionary anatomy at the University College in London.

I'm not going to get too excited about this; however God did it, He did it! I don't need to know or understand everything to have faith in Him.

Overall what it paints for human evolution is a "chaotic kind of looking evolutionary tree rather than this heroic march that you see with the cartoons of an early ancestor evolving into some intermediate and eventually unto us," Spoor said in a phone interview from a field office of the Koobi Fora Research Project in northern Kenya. That old evolutionary cartoon, while popular with the general public, keeps getting proven wrong and too simple, said Bill Kimbel [director of the Institute of Human Origins at Arizona State University], who praised the latest findings. ... .
"The more we know, the more complex the story gets," he said.

Kinda supports my kid's thinking, doesn't it?

Leakey's team spent seven years analyzing the fossils before announcing their findings that it was time to redraw the family tree — and rethink other ideas about human evolutionary history, especially about our most immediate ancestor, H. erectus.

If they would just listen to me, I could explain it all to them and save them a lot of time. But if they won't listen to God what chance do I have?

EVOLUTION: You can't have it both ways!

Olansky, at World Magazine, says as much. If you use Behe as your creationist darling one day, you can't reject him the next day when he says something you don't like!

Behe's insistence that key mutations in the history of life must have been nonrandom, and that the universe is clearly designed for life, will infuriate Darwinian materialists.

But he will also displease creationists, for he argues that "the evidence for common descent seems compelling." Modern DNA sequencing, he contends, shows that many creatures have common ancestors, and that God did not create man from dust.

But fear not brethren, science is populated with the same people who have told us coffee would kill us one day and not the next.

Behe's emphasis on "irreducible complexity" explained why chance mutations could not be the driving engine of macroevolutionary change. He showed how the complexity of organs and organisms means that not one mutation but dozens would have to kick in all at once, an event as improbable as would be the production by complete chance of a spring-driven mousetrap.

Please don't think Behe must agree with our apologists on every point in order to be a grand asset to their arguments.
