Bird Dog at Maggie's Farm sure sums up a lot of our feelings (link above) ... especially his link to Jungle Trader's link to Michael Goodwin's thoughts at the New York Daily News."Some day, we will look back with disgust at the abuse Palin has taken and wonder how it could happen in this great nation, circa 2008."My short answer is that far too many Americans are fundamentally selfish, self-centered, ego-centrists.

PROPHETIC VOICE: Newsweek and Sam Harris gang up on Sarah, reveal end-time roll!
Sam Harris is a self-promoting, nobody atheist who has been blessed by the Peter Principle ... raised up to "his level of incompetence," only his benefactors have no idea he has been!Sam Harris on Sarah Palin and Elitism | Politics | Newsweek
HT - Newsweek on Palin: A 'Pet Pony' and 'Rapture-Ready Extremist' | NewsBusters
Writing in what used to be a worthy magazine, Harris declares John McCain's pick for Vice President a figment of imagination, a religious zealot of the first order, someone of such dysfunction that she is not worthy of our time, let alone our support.
So, I ask, why are Newsweek and the soon to be forgotten Sam Harris taking the time to mock her? The answer to that question is found in another Peter principle ...One of the dangers of keeping Sarah Palin under wraps is that it allows this kind of hyperbolic diatribe to reproduce! (see here also) Where is the danger for Harris' and his crapola, if he knows she won't be allowed to respond?Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming?
For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."
For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.2 Peter 3:3-10
I can't agree with all of Tim Graham's take on Harris' opinion of Palin because I don't see it in the same light ... with the same worldview!
Harris has a right to his opinion; it's the subtle and quasi-intellectual fear mongering (see cristophobia) which really bothers me (CRIB emphasis). Notice ...Her relative ignorance is guaranteed on these fronts and most others, not because she was put on the spot, or got nervous, or just happened to miss the newspaper on any given morning. Sarah Palin's ignorance is guaranteed because of how she has spent the past 44 years on earth.Excuse me? Who has Sam spent any quality time with regarding the "the past 44 years" of her life" Seriously, how does he know how she spent the past 44 years?
I care even more about the many things Palin thinks she knows but doesn't: like her conviction that the Biblical God consciously directs world events. Needless to say, she shares this belief with millions of Americans -- but we shouldn't be eager to give these people our nuclear codes, either.
Then there is this little slip: "her conviction that ... God ... directs world events." Add Harris' own admission "millions of Americans" share "this belief" with poor Sarah!
First, this has been shown and re-shown to have taken out of context. And, second, she never said or even implied anything near to this. But will Harris' hubris allow him to discuss it reasonably and rationally? No! It won't!
And "we" shouldn't? This wee slip of the tongue tells me that he believes he, the Newsweek shakers, and their mover-readers are all of one mind. Such arrogance!
And "these people"? What smug contempt for "millions of Americans"?
Harris and Newsweek are not just mocking Sarah Palin, they've called out, by Harris' own figures, millions of Americans. But they have no fear, not of Sarah's fellow Christians (recent history shows we don't fight back against this crapola) and not of the likes of Sam Harris or the editors of Newsweek (Romans 3:18).
Most reasonable people know intuitively what this means to the intelligentsia. And most public speakers/writers avoid it when speaking to or about any minority group: women, blacks, Jews, Muslims, etc. But not to Christians, especially Christian women.
Harris and Newsweek are both guilty of what they accuse Palin - of ignorance and of spending their lives in the wrong way, without God, and therefore not knowing him or what He has said!

RACISM: The real racists are no longer white!
Blacks can spin it anyway they want but the arrow still points squarely at racists! Writing for RCP, Dennis Pragar says ...Seven weeks before the 2008 presidential election, liberals are warning America that if Barack Obama loses, it is because Americans are racist. ....The double standard on who is and who is not a racist cannot hide the overwhelming percentage of blacks voting for Obama just because he is black.
That an Obama loss will be due to racism is becoming as normative a liberal belief as "Bush Lied, People Died," a belief that has generated intense rage among many liberals. The deep emotional connection that nearly every black American has to an Obama victory is difficult for even empathetic non-blacks to measure. A major evangelical pastor told me that even evangelical black pastors who share every conservative value with white evangelical pastors, including pro-life views on abortion, will vote for Obama. They feel their very dignity is on the line.I remember attending San Jose State College (pre-university days) when Tommie Smith was setting a world record every time he set foot on the track. I recall eating in the campus cafeteria and watching the blacks segregating themselves from the rest of us ... Smith and John Carlos included.
This was during the 60s, when America was trying to right the wrong of white-racism.
I remember being at a Southern Baptist pastors retreat in California about ten years ago, listening to a black pastor and a black youth pastor explain to me and a white friend why they hoped and prayed that we and every other white-American would experience the humiliation and degradation that they felt and had felt.
To our shock they told us they hoped and prayed that this country and its whitey culture would crumble in a heap just so they could see whites go through what their people have gone through.
These were men who were consecrated to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ - the one known as The Truth, The Life, and The Way!
To this day my friend and I remain dumbfounded because of what we heard these two "men of God" reveal to us at that little round table over coffee. For 40 years, liberals have described the most open and tolerant society on earth as racist and xenophobic. If Barack Obama loses, the results of this liberal depiction of America may become frighteningly apparent. The vast majority of Americans ... democrat and republican, black and white, Native and Asian, what ever ... know that the vast majority of Americans are nowhere near racist; yet most liberal Americans, especially those in or out of academia, and the MSM do!Why do liberals believe that if Obama loses it will be due to white racism?Prager predicts ...
One reason is the liberal elite's contempt for white Americans with less education -- even if they are Democrats.
A second reason is that it is inconceivable to most liberals that an Obama loss -- especially a narrow one -- will be due to Obama's liberal views or inexperience or to admiration for John McCain.
The third reason is that the further left you go, the more insular you get. Americans on the left tend to talk only to one another; study only under left-wing teachers; and read only fellow leftists. That is why it is a shock to so many liberals when a Republican wins a national election -- where do all these Republican voters come from?... if Obama loses, liberal rage will focus on millions of fellow Americans and on American society.I pray that those who've trained themselves to be colorblind with regard to race will rise up and angrily tell the spoiled liberal brats to be quiet and return to their rugs and finish their nap.
And it could become a rage the likes of which America has not seen in a long time, if ever. It will first and foremost come from within black America.

RACISM: Let me get this straight - racist Democrats?
The teaser text in my FOXNews.com feed said, "Deep-seated misgivings about blacks among some Democrats could cost Obama the White House"!
Say what? Sum a dem Dems is racist? No! Can't be?Though that argument is countered by Obama’s strong primary performance is [sic] mostly white states like Iowa, the AP-Yahoo News survey, conducted with Stanford University, found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks — many calling them “lazy,” “violent” or responsible for their own troubles. That's right, Dems!
But it won't matter one whit, Republicans have already been warned that if the man from Illinois is not elected, it will be because of the GOP, conservatives, evangelicals, and people like Sarah Palin. (Did I miss anyone?) So the blame will be placed squarely on our shoulders no matter how he loses, period.Certainly, Republican John McCain has his own obstacles: He’s an ally of an unpopular president and would be the nation’s oldest first-term president. But Obama faces this: 40 percent of all white Americans hold at least a partly negative view toward blacks, and that includes many Democrats and independents.I certainly hope this survey is wrong, I don't like phobias in any form ... and I hate hate.
More than a third of all white Democrats and independents — voters Obama can’t win the White House without — agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don’t have such views.
Such numbers are a harsh dose of reality in a campaign for the history books. Obama, the first black candidate with a serious shot at the presidency, accepted the Democratic nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, a seminal moment for a nation that enshrined slavery in its Constitution.

CRISTOPHOBIA: Palin's religion dinigrated again!
CRISTOPHOBIA: Palin's religion denigrated again!
Implied in that phrase is a warning to listeners: WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO HEAR IS CLOUDED BY THE DANGEROUS TEACHINGS OF A THREAT TO GLOBAL SECURITY AND YOU AND YOUR FAMILY'S WELFARE!
Unless for ulterior reasons, it is unnecessary to highlight a candidate's religious convictions.
According to Barack Obama's own testimony he "is most definitely Christian." He said as much in his interview with Bill O'Reilly. And yet O'Reilly (to his credit) did not introduce him with the same appellation.
It is just as necessary that an atheist candidate not allow his personal spiritual convictions to adversely affect his political decisions and/or actions as it is for a Christian, Buddhist, or Mormon to not allow theirs to do so.
Very few authentic-Christians wear their faith on their sleeves; even fewer are publicly aggressive about their faith.

PALIN: Superlatives unnecessary!
We Are Sarah’s People | Brussels Journal
Matthews, Olbermann, Brokaw Scoff at Palin's Slams on Media | NewsBusters
CNN’s John King Self-Criticizes Media’s ‘Language’ About GOP | NewsBustersThe CRIB realizes it is preaching to the choir when it reacts to last night's Sarah Palin RNC speech, but these thoughts need to be recorded by this observer:
First, Joshua Trevino sums it up for his European audience in The Brussels Journal ...I don’t know how it played on TV. I don’t know what the news media said. I don’t know how the pundits assessed the speech. I don’t know what narratives the blogs are spinning. I only know what I saw. I only know what I felt. I only know what effect Sarah Palin had on the thousands of men, women and children assembled to hear her accept the Republican nomination for Vice President of the United States. I only know what word describes all that best.Second, blindfolds are now standard issue for the American press and they are almost 100% effective. For example ...
The word is electric.CRIS MATTHEWS: Pat I recognize a tactic here. Start a fight with the press. Establish your underdog status. Take them on. Win public approval. Is that what's going on here with the candidacy and nomination of Sarah Palin? That so many, with so much to offer, can offer so little, and be so unaware of it is beyond shameful.
PAT BUCHANAN: No I think it's utterly foolish to say that Sarah Palin has started a fight with the press. The press has been savage on her and feral on her. Ever since she was nominated she's been an obsession of the press. She's been attacked. Her daughter's pregnancy has got two or three stories on the front page of the New York Times. It has been a disgraceful performance by the press. Fred Thompson took it on last night and I certainly hopes she takes it on tonight. Because quite frankly it is a battle that the press started and the conservatives and the Republicans really ought to finish.
MATTHEWS: Well it could be said, Pat, that your part of that strategy right now, because of what you're saying. Savagery is a strong word.
...
MATTHEWS: It seems like this is old political tactics. Start a fight with the media, the establishment. Portray yourself as the underdog.
EUGENE ROBINSON, WASHINGTON POST: Absolutely, absolutely. Look, who knew that Republicans were so sensitive and finely attuned to any whiff of sexism or ageism or anything like that? I wasn't aware that the Republicans were, were such hothouse flowers about all this stuff.
...
NORAH O'DONNELL: There is one important thing to point out. The media is not attacking Sarah Palin. The media has done investigative pieces, in their job, about the way Sarah Palin was chosen.
And, third, a few partially objective media types other than Buchanan are seeing the same thing ...JOHN KING [in a moment of self-critique]: To say the Right is running the Republican campaign -- if that means these people are the Right, then Carl's exactly right. But we didn't say, during the Democratic convention... all those delegates down on the floor -- you know, many of them were members of the Left. And also this ...ANDERSON COOPER: I will also say I didn't hear people talking about who was the speech writer for any of the Democrats' speeches.Okay, you see it, now what? There in lies the conundrum for the American media ... if history is any indicator - NOTHING!
GLORIA BORGER: Right.
COOPER: It seem we're only highlighting who the speech writer is for her speech.
They will, collectively, go right on abusing members of any class of people who do not agree with them and their worldview.

PALIN: Will the real bigots please stand up?
J. Robert Smith speaks words of truth in his American Thinker piece ...The Coming Trials of Sarah Palin | American Thinker
HT - The Coming Trials of Sarah Palin | Black KettleDemocrats and the left generally can no more accept a Sarah Palin vice presidency than they could Clarence Thomas as a Supreme Court justice. They can no more accept a conservative woman a heartbeat away from the presidency than they can a conservative African-American interpreting the nation's laws. Expect the long knives to be out, and stay out.Since the Clarence Thomas nomination fight in 1991, conservatives and fair-minded Americans have learned a bitter lesson: for liberals, it isn't about promoting the advancement of all African-Americans, but only those in step with their ideology and aims. The same can be said of women. Liberals believe they own the franchise, and it doesn't allow for baby-making, gun-friendly, God-fearing women, who, not incidentally, fight for lower taxes, smaller government and a strong national defense. They certainly can't be Republicans.[...]Expect Democrats, the left and their allies in the establishment media to go well beyond the initial attacks on the Governor's inexperience and whatever they can pick out of her record. In the coming weeks, the left's whole political and media machine will seek not only to trip up the Governor to prove their contentions that she's dangerously inexperienced, but will attack her character. They'll especially go after her motherhood, her womanhood and her honesty.[...]And doesn't an attack on Palin's motherhood conflicting with her work life contradict longstanding feminist claims about women pursuing both? The answer is yes, but what does that matter? You expect logic and fairness? The left plays mercilessly for advantage. Contradictions are nuisances.Go there and read more of Smith's thoughts on feminism and Jolly Joe Biden.

CRISTOPHOBIA: New blog launched!
SHEEP'S CRIB Ministries has launched a new blog - Cristophobia Watch.
We've become increasingly weary of the MSM, manifold bureaucrats, and twisted politicos proclaiming the persecution of this group and that individual while anti-Christian bias and bigotry takes place every hour of every day ... none of them seems to give a whit.
We realize there are anti-Cristophobia efforts alive and well throughout the world but none which treats Cristophobia news along the lines of Islamophobia Watch.
