Yes, she agrees with me And so does Daphne at Jaded Haven ... Melanie first.The atrocities in Mumbai have left reporters and commentators floundering for explanations. Why India? Was this a local terrorist group or al Qaeda? Why single out Americans and Brits if they also targeted Indians in the railway station? Why attack some obscure Jewish organisation? And so on.I like this lady, often, not always.
They are floundering because they still just don’t get it. The atrocities demonstrated with crystal clarity what the Islamist war is all about – and the western commentariat didn’t understand because it simply refuses to acknowledge, even now, what that war actually is. It does not arise from particular grievances. It is not rooted in ‘despair’ over Palestine. It is not a reaction to the war in Iraq. Persecution of homosexuals. Imprisonment, stoning and whipping for morality crimes. Lack of free speech. The foul treatment of non-Muslims in Islamic countries. The demented hatred of Jews. Sharia Law. Wahhabism. Madrasas. Blind obedience to Mullahs. Praying towards Mecca - a place on the map few will ever see. Individuality is shut down, originality and freedom of the mind discouraged. MUMBAI & DEMOCRACY: Dismembering the political turkey before the public's eyes!
What's the recipe for preparing and dismembering the bird of an opposing political view?The remains will usually feed as many of the ignorant masses who want to pack their gullets with their dying liberties, freedoms, and participatory politics.
- Sprinkle generously with a choice word here and a choice word there (planting seeds of doubt; e.g., change, right-wing, hope, fascist, Nazi, right ... as in a "right" to this and a "right" to that)
- Rub vigorously with twists of meaning here and twists of meaning there (raising suspicions concerning motivations leading to distrust of the opposition; e.g., pro-"choice", "separation" of church and state, constitutional "right," as well as "the era of hope," "eight more years," "politics of hate")
- Bake slowly under the watchful eye of cultural elites, academics, and a biased press (keeping the dumb-downed public's focus from real issues and the facts; e.g., immigration policy, radical Islam, government by entitlement, defense vis a vis economy)
- Maintain temperature high enough to keep the hungry at a distance (socialists don't want the public to see the cooking bird is not really a turkey ... rather it's the democratic eagle)
- When done, take a sledgehammer to the sucker and smash it to smithereens.
I bring this culinary delight to you as the result of seeing Martin Sullivan's all too transparent application of this recipe to Martin Wingfield's 11/28/08 post concerning the obvious ties between Islam and the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India. (See Atlas Shrugs for antisemitic tie.)
Sullivan is the principal contributor for Islamophobia Watch, an Islamic apologetics collective and news site purporting to expose Western Islamophobia.
Does he comment on the content of the post? No! Does he exposit the article with critical comment? No! Does he excise the falsehoods and present evidence of their falsity? No! Does he point to an alternate explanation or facts unavailable to or ignored by Wingfield? No! Not a word.
So what does he do? He does what all of us do when we blog, he selects what he feels are money quotes from the article and publishes those for his readers. Okay, so if we all do that, what has he done wrong?
He takes the anti-democracy recipe and applies it in his title: "Fascist draws lessons from the Mumbai terrorist attacks."
Dear reader, do you know if Wingfield is a fascist? No! But the first word off Sullivan's keyboard warns you he can't be trusted. Who would trust a fascist after all? No one in their right minds would, now would they?
Have your read Wingfield's entire post? Go there and look for misstatements of fact or distortion of the news. Enthusiasm for his viewpoint? Yes! Hyperbole? Yes!
Sullivan also adds one sweet spice to his title, the choice word "lessons." Sullivan knows that in our modern Western culture no reader wants to receive a "lesson" from a news source. That's anathema!
The only crime Wingfield has committed is that he has used what remains of Britain's freedom of speech to speak his mind.
It is true that he is a member of the dreaded BNP (British National Party), a party branded as fascist by radical Muslims throughout Europe and enabled in doing so by leftist elites, academics, and press.

Well, Stanley Kurtz and Steve Diamond, two of the only journalists actually interested enough to look into the relationship, would beg to differ about the extent of Obama’s relationship with Ayers ... [David Thompson]Bottom-line, it doesn't matter whose feelings or sensibilities are tweaked; what matters is informing the American people regardless of where the votes fall.
And below that bottom-line is the question of Obama's twenty year association with the very wrong Rev. Wright ... he's fair game.
Why McCain waited for a hail-Mary moment is a mystery to all.
David Thompson wonders ...... what the precise level of ostracism should be for those, like Ayers, who show no contrition for past sins. But I find it remarkable that so little stigma is apparent. There is a double standard here, whereby leftwing extremism, even of the most contemptible kind, is excused as some youthful exuberance or badge of credibility.But can the same be said for rightwing extremism? ISLAM: Enough - Forcing Reasonable People to Become Unreasonable!
I'm reaching the point of exhaustion with all this kowtowing to Muslims; all over the world we're seeing Westerners genuflect to Muhammadans and their aberrant expectations of others ... no grace, no geniality, no give, no indication of live and let live! I'm tired of it all!
If I were younger I'd give serious thought to going underground.This, in a country that values free speech and individual liberty. The above followed yesterday's news about the troops who put their lives on the line everyday!A popular comic strip that poked fun at the Rev. Jerry Falwell without incident one week ago was deemed too controversial to run over the weekend because this time it took a humorous swipe at Muslim fundamentalists.
The Washington Post and several other newspapers around the country did not run Sunday's installment of Berkeley Breathed's "Opus," in which the spiritual fad-seeking character Lola Granola appears in a headscarf and explains to her boyfriend, Steve, why she wants to become a radical Islamist. [FOX]The U.S. military regrets any offense it may have caused by handing out a soccer ball emblazoned with the name of Allah on it as part of a public relations exercise in Afghanistan, a spokesman said.A mistake! How about a well-intentioned faux pax but not a mistake! And how about playing Russian Roulette nationally?
At least one of the balls — which were dropped by helicopter to children in Khost province in eastern Afghanistan on Friday — carried a small picture of the Saudi Arabian flag. TALIBAN: Answering the unanswerable!
Today's article suggests the Taliban may be ready to release their Korean hostages (mostly women).
I've been personally frustrated by various complaints from Christians and Christian organizations about the silence from the Christian community and the Godblogosphere concerning these "Christian" aid workers. The complaints are warranted to a certain extent but let's face reality.At this juncture, two male members of the Korean group have been murdered; there is no guarantee more won't suffer the same fate.And speaking for myself - I have 24 hours each day to minister for the Lord; I'm obligated to use those hours as a gift (no, I'm not always perfect in their use) and to prioritize my labors. Like Satan, I cannot be everywhere at once, all-knowing, and all-mighty. Most of us are doing the best we can.
Most Western Christians are news savvy and know when they are dealing with ignorant unprincipled people; leaders who have no moral compunctions other than their wild allegiance to an aberrant idea.
This does have a tendency to dampen involvement.
And I would suggest that Darfur, the Iraqi Christian exodus, and Arab persecution of Christians in general trump the hostages ... and where pray tell is the UN, man's answer to all of this? What a waste!
In other words, where can my noise, my sweat, and my heart do the most good? And since when is this a problem of the American church only? And is the noise I hear from the Church in the North, South, and East not still "from the Church"? Why is so much guilt placed on the shoulders of the Church in the West? We are one body!
Bottom-line, Paul knew before going "to Caesar" that he might not come out alive; the same was said by Jesus on His entry into Jerusalem.
When we opt to go on mission for God, and opt for a dangerous mission field (the field of another), there is a certain awareness of the dangers involved. In some fields (like Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Afghanistan) there is a tacit understanding that there are no clandestine black berets lurking in the shadows to extricate us if we get in trouble.
My feeling is the criticism is both warranted (in a qualified sense) and unwarranted (in an unqualified sense). Perhaps the critics should reexamine their criticism.
