Google has added a magazine rack to its Internet search engine. As part of its quest to corral more content published on paper, Google Inc. has made digital copies of more than 1 million articles from magazines that hit the newsstands decades ago.[Yahoo! News]
For now, the old magazine articles can be found only through Google's search service for finding digital copies of books. But the Mountain View, Calif.-based company plans to eventually include magazine articles in its general search results.
Users who want to restrict the scope of their inquiries to magazines can choose that option through the book search's "advanced" function.- Excavation unearths British Mensa ...
British archaeologists have unearthed an ancient skull carrying a startling surprise — an unusually well-preserved brain. Scientists said Friday that the mass of gray matter was more than 2,000 years old — the oldest ever discovered in Britain. One expert unconnected with the find called it "a real freak of preservation."[Yahoo! News]- SANCTITY OF LIFE: OK and rain causes wet grass ... duh? [Black Kettle]

SANCTITY OF LIFE: Right to life declared in 1776!
While "tweeting" on Twitter this am (shame on us we skipped church) I was urged to click over to Red State and read ...I would highly recommend my readers do what I did and read this fine piece. Lot's of comments over there. The Declaration of Independence, in which our Rights as Americans and humans were so eloquently advanced, stated that all humans are created equal and endowed by their Creator with unalienable (intrinsic, non-severable) Rights. It does not state that humans are born equal, but created so. For this reason it matters when human life is created. For the answer we turn to science.
Ask any geneticist when life begins and (assuming sexual reproduction) they’ll tell you it’s when the ovum is fertilized by the sperm. At that point the fertilized egg has the same genetic structure it will have for its entire life, and much of the course of its future life is set, unless interrupted by accident or violent attack. Life begins when the genetic structure is in place and the biological processes begin. It’s the same with a human as it is with a kangaroo or an amoeba. Life, human or otherwise, begins at the beginning. That is the instant of creation. The act of creation invoked in the Declaration is found at the beginning of life. [Red State - LJ Miller]
One thought we must grasp from this: from a pro-life and Constitutional perspective one must see the DNA of A, impregnated with the DNA of B, combining to create the DNA of C; C's DNA didn't exist till the genetic combination of DNA from donors A and B.
C's DNA does not equal A's DNA or B's DNA (unless A and B are identical twins), it is unique.
Since human life is schematically represented by its DNA (something it mysteriously acquires at or immediately following impregnation; the egg losing its donor's uniqueness, and the sperm losing its donor's uniqueness), life as we define human life must by default begin at or immediately a following impregnation.
It boggles my mind that so many fail to see the simplicity of this: to abort a fetus is to end a human life and, also by default, violates that American's right to equal protection.
I don't claim to have all the answers but you don't have to be a genius or a Phd to see this.

CATHOLICS & FOCA: Should be no complaints there!
Jeffery T. Kuhner, of the Washington Times, is of the opinion that if President-elect Barack Obama signs the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) that ...it will trigger a harsh response from Pope Benedict XVI, as well as a political revolt among practicing American Catholics. [WashTimes]It may well be that Benny the 16th will rebuke our new president (he seems not to fear any man) but I can't fathom what "American Catholics" will have to complain about ... they got what the voted for, just like the rest of the blind.

PROPHETIC VOICE: Be assured America's respect for life will soon end after Europe falls!
If the gist of this report is true ... no rational reason to assume it's not ... then all we have to do is wait until the EU shoe drops, the cheap thud of the USA shoe won't be far behind ...Pro-life and pro-family campaigners have been warned to expect the publication of documents, funded by the European Union, promoting abortion, euthanasia and other anti-life and anti-family practices. These documents will purportedly allow “zero tolerance for dissent,” in particular seeking to eradicate the right to conscientious objection. [LifeSite News; h/t Black Kettle]If this continues at its present pace, I envision a Christian Masada on every continent at some point ... unless the Lord takes us up first (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).The movement towards removing the right of “conscientious objection” has also become a looming concern in the United States. President-Elect Barack Obama has promised to sign into law the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), should it be passed by Congress. FOCA would force all hospitals and medical professionals to provide abortions, with no rights of conscientious objection. The man calls himself a Christian but he is a fraud, a total fraud.

HOMOSEXUALS: The incredible mind games of "do gooders"!
The incredible mind games of the left!
English translation of text:The only difference between homosexuality and heterosexuality is homophobia.Re-education? Seems to me Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Fidel, Hugo and Ho Chi have all tried this with abysmal results.
When you are an adolescent and wondering about your emotional and sexual orientation, you may unfortunately also discover homophobia and its violence. This period in your life is often difficult to endure and can lead to serious problems, sometimes even suicide.
A national re-education campaign signed by: The Ministry of Health, Youth, Sports and Related Associations; and the National Institute of Health. (CRIB emphasis)
As a heterosexual I assure you there is a plethora of difference between hetero and homosexuality.
But the "suicide" phrase? That makes me wonder if the liberal/left is capable of doing anything but harm to the cultures where they've taken political root!
The Brussels Journal asks -"Does it help to warn them that they may be headed for suicide?"A mere suggestion or insinuation is all that's needed for a confused young person to take their own life.

SANCTITY OF LIFE: Apparently the concept of "sanctity" escapes some!
Prominent Abortionist Admits Abortion 'Cancels' Souls| Christianpost.com
I can't do this story justice, you'll just have to go over there and read it for yourself. What can we possibly say? The rest of the story is incredible.Dr. William Harrison, notable for being Hillary Clinton’s former OB-GYN as well as for performing over 20,000 abortions, has admitted in recent a e-mail exchange with a prominent Christian psychologist that abortion “cancels” a human soul.
“Anyone who has delivered as many babies as I have, and has seen hundreds of living and dead embryos and fetuses being spontaneously aborted as have I, knows exactly what we are doing when we provide an elective abortion for our patient. We are ending the life of an embryo or a fetus,” Harrison wrote in an e-mail to Dr. Warren Throckmorton, associate professor of Psychology at Grove City College in Pennsylvania.

ABORTION: And the band plays on ...
... but the little heartbeats grow fainter and fainter.
Sunday morning is a good time to make these announcements ... most of the anti-abortion activists/critics are in Church or at Mass! The U.S. Senate has lifted a ban to provide family-planning aid to overseas organizations that promote or perform abortions. The bill doesn't appear to be the cold-blooded death warrant we all dread, but this is government sanctioned murder all the same.
In a vote 53-41 last Thursday, the senate reversed current U.S. policy restricting aid to abortion groups in favor of using taxpayer’s money to support overseas health groups which include abortion as a method of family planning.
“Once again, this Congress is threatening to abolish long-standing pro-life policies that protect preborn children,” said Carrie Gordon Earll, senior bioethics analyst for Focus on the Family Action, in a statement.
Does man have no fear of God? Does man believe He is not seen by God? Can He possible believe what he considers compassion for women's rights is not offensive to God?
What really piques me is the callous use of our taxes ... I end up supporting abortion on demand.

SCOTUS: There's Something Wrong with the Picture!
I'm no longer excited about peripheral issues ... not like I once was ... but this demanded a question be asked and answered: assuming the linked story accurately reflects the opinion and statements of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, should the public be impressed with statements such as this? The logic of such a statement, though appealing to the ear, would imply the necessary unbroken existence of legal support for Dred Scott to this day; and the Taney decision would see blacks as chattel still.Retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor says the Supreme Court should generally follow its prior rulings so the public has confidence that laws do not change just because justices come and go.
Also, isn't the public more confident by the whole when it believes "justice" does not "change just because justices come and go" rather than "laws"? As long as there are politicians the laws will change. But justice? NeverO'Connor, a swing vote in favor of abortion rights and affirmative action, said she was seeing an unprecedented level of public criticism in recent months of state and federal court decisions.A hard line approach to O'Connor's doctrine, by justices in general, would have seriously impaired her own ability to "favor of abortion rights and affirmative action."The vast majority of the criticism, she said, is unjustified and borders on harassment of judges, especially in cases where lawmakers threaten impeachment of judges for decisions they disagreed with. Here again we see the answer of the powerful to criticism of the powerful by the powerless is for the powerless to be muzzled. But federal courts, too, play a role in fostering public credibility by generally adhering to "stare decisis," or settled precedent, O'Connor said."Obviously, that is a concern," said the Reagan appointee who retired early last year. She responded to a question in a broadcast interview about the public's perception that the Supreme Court based its decisions more on politics than principle and whether that belief undermined the court's credibility. Here again I feel as if Lady Justice herself is being supplanted by the justices themselves. God help us!
The law "shouldn't change just because the faces on the court have changed," she said. Her comments come a month after the high court changed course on abortion, upholding a national ban on a midterm method of ending pregnancies known as "partial-birth abortion." It was a 5-4 decision that opened the door for states to pass additional abortion restrictions. To Hell with experts, conservative or liberal; what is the just thing to do? Have we, after 6,000 years of recorded history and 500 years of American existence, not resolved what is just?
Liberal and some conservative legal experts have criticized the decision as disturbing and inconsistent because it seemed to defy a virtually similar 5-4 high court case in 2000.
Had the legislatures and justices gotten the Sanctity of Life issue right in the first place we wouldn't have these side shows. Of course had Adam and Eve gotten the obedience thing right in the first place we wouldn't need legislatures or justices. In the 2000 case, O'Connor was the key vote in striking down an abortion ban that placed an "undue burden" on a woman's right to choose. O'Connor has since been replaced by conservative Justice Samuel Alito, who voted last month for the ban.How is it O'Connor can say out of one side of her mouth we should, at all costs, honor stare decisis and then out of the other side vote to affirm these two decisions, both of which fly in the face of the doctrine? In the interview, O'Connor said she is working to put together a Web site aimed at junior high and high school students that will seek to instill respect for the judicial process, including "stare decisis" and the court's power to overturn actions by the legislative or executive branch that impinge on individual freedoms such as speech, religion and due process of law.How about starting a web site aimed at Law School students "that will seek to instill respect for the [legislative] process," including "separation of powers" and "checks and balances"?
And how about the court itself paying closer attention to its own decisions "that impinge on individual freedoms such as speech, religion and due process of law."
And how about the rights of unborn-Americans as a class of "hyphenated" citizens being victimized by the legislatures and courts of our land?
