NEW YORKER: A college education is no guarantee of intelligent life!

Obama says New Yorker insulted Muslim Americans | Yahoo! News
Rush got this one right ... he said today, before his golden EIB microphone, The New Yorker was trying to blindside conservatives, but ended up poking themselves in the eye. [my loose paraphrase]

Publication of the
above cover is generating thousands of additional readers and millions of dollars worth of free advertising ... but controversy continues all around. I have to admit Obama's response in the linked report is far better than the left's response.

What the left needs to remember: if the Big Apple's flagship magazine were in leftist Canada they'd be sued and forced before a human rights tribunal. How good is it to live and work in America? Better than they can imagine.

If libel terrorists had their way the New Yorker and all other American publications would be prevented from exercising any rights of free
speech and press.

But overall, reading the MSM and the blogosphere, I'm left with the feeling Phil Gramm was also right but didn't go far enough ... we're not only a nation of whiners, we also take ourselves way too serious.

My friend Mark Coffey of Decision '08 fame said it best ...
I love this country, but I’m not so fond of many of its citizens. We are now so stupid that perhaps an enlightened despotism would be the best form of government going forward (note to those suffering from irony deficiencies - I’m kidding!) …

OBAMA: How can I resist the Jackson temptation!

Jackson’s Comments on Obama Bare Intraracial Divide - America’s Election HQ | FoxNews.Com
Jesse's blunder does more to encourage non-black voters to vote for Obama than anything else he could do.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson has vocally championed black causes since the days of “say it loud” and “say it proud” — but this time the outspoken civil rights activist courted controversy with a whisper.
God's word has something to say about this ... "
For lack of wood the fire goes out,
And where there is no whisperer, contention quiets down." [Proverbs 26:20]
Jackson said Sunday, during what he thought was a private conversation between him and a fellow FOX News guest, that “Barack … he’s talking down to black people.” He also crudely threatened to castrate Obama.
And a wise man said words spoken wrongly against others are like pillow feathers cast to the wind, you'll never get them back ... apologies aside.

ANTI-AMERICANISM: Out of the darkness comes the voice of reason!

The result of 25-plus years of this destructive and dehumanizing ideology [Conservatism] ruined America, dismantled social safety nets, demonized the poor, destroyed jobs and education funding – and turned American society to one that is unbearable for all except the rich and the well off. […]

What was largely with brutal craft of Ronald Reagan may take Americans 25-plus years to repair and undo. What is most alarming is that this brutal and dehumanizing social economic system now seeking to infect European society and give it these same illnesses that have left America a human wasteland.

Europeans must identify this strain of virus called American conservativism – and inoculate itself against it… Yellow Stars
HT: The Brussels Journal

This is all very interesting. How is it then that the major source of aid in Myanmar was US aid? And recently in Bangladesh, and earlier in India? And last year in Peru? And a few years ago in Iran? All while taking on Katrina and Rita!

And "this strain of virus called American conservativism," what about its impact on AIDS in Africa? A Bush program?

Where, pray tell, has the UN been in the war on AIDS in Africa? Oh that's right, it's been busy sending child molesters and rapist security personnel to the dark continent!

And that awful tsunami that took over 200,000 souls? Were those "brutal and dehumanizing" naval vessels off the shores of Sri Lanka, India, and Indonesia? They must have had holds full of conservative propaganda!

And then there is this story in the news today -
The United States will spend an additional $1.25 billion on international food aid donations this year and next as donor countries seek to blunt the effects of soaring food prices on the world's poor.
And this just in -
A United States freighter began unloading tons of American wheat in Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, on Monday, as the government agreed to give international aid workers unprecedented access to its isolated, hunger-stricken territory, the United Nations World Food Program said.

The shipment is the first installment of 500,000 tons in promised American aid to be distributed by the World Food Program and American groups like Mercy Corps. The aid, and the North Korean agreement to invite 50 more food program experts and a consortium of American relief agencies, followed recent progress in efforts to end the North’s nuclear weapons program.
Those damnable sumsabeaches! They use any trick they can find to snooker those ignorant savages and export their sick "American Conservatism." Get me a syringe, quick! Poor people are being fed by these Reagonian ogres!

Who do they think they are fooling with these government orchestrated disaster stories out of Iowa and Missouri? And those fake fires in California? Conservative propaganda to conceal their failure to take care of there own.

Where do people like this idiot E. S. LaPorte come from? And why do people give a hoot what she thinks?

FALSE TEACHERS: Westboro Slammed to the Mat - GOOD!

The ministry of Westboro Baptist is an embarrassment to the entire Body of Christ ...
The father of a fallen Marine was awarded nearly $11 million Wednesday in damages by a jury that found leaders of a fundamentalist church had invaded the family's privacy and inflicted emotional distress when they picketed the Marine's funeral.

The jury first awarded $2.9 million in compensatory damages. It returned later in the afternoon with its decision to award $6 million in punitive damages for invasion of privacy and $2 million for causing emotional distress to the Marine's father, Albert Snyder of York, Pa.

Snyder sued the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church for unspecified monetary damages after members staged a demonstration at the March 2006 funeral of his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, who was killed in Iraq.
I hope they collect every penny.

ESCHATOLOGY: World Ended in 1928!

The article above was found in a rare book in my library (see picture below) but where was I?

The text is as follows ...
Los Angeles Times – December 30, 1927. – [PART 1.]

WORLD'S END IN 1928 SEEN

Paris Seer Predicts Fall of Meteorite Next Summer,
Death of Many and New Civilization Rise

[Copyright, 1927, by Chicago Tribune]
PARIS, Dec. 29. (Exclusive)—Prof. Pav, astrologer and seer, has astounded Paris by prophesying the end of the world in the summer of 1928. The professor, in an interview, gave details concerning the cataclysm which, in the opinion of many savants, marks the calling into the heavens of the true church, as foretold in the Bible.
"The end of the world is imminent, but the globe will not be totally destroyed," Prof. Pav said. "The constellation Lion, from the effect of some unknown force, will explode. A tremendous noise will be heard all over the world. Multitudes of stars composing the Fubulae will smash and a rain of falling stars will be visible in the sky.
"An immense block, like a gigantic meteorite, will fall on the earth. The rupture of the planetary equilibrium will not cause disaster to the entire system, but the same night a bitter cold wave will be felt, and in the morning there will be ice and snow, although the catastrophe is due to occur in summer.
"A large number of people will die in all corners of the globe, crops will be frozen and famine will conclude the hecatomb.
"The most terrible part will be the falling on the earth of a colossal meteorite. The earth itself will be jolted from its orbit by the shock, but magnetic forces will prevent it falling and colliding with another planet. Large areas of land will disappear and new continents will appear.
"At the end of the cataclysm only a relatively few people will survive.
"Afterward nature will resume her task and man will become wiser and more tender. The bases of the present civilization will not be destroyed entirely. The survivors will create new social system, based on the respect of human life and confraternity.
"All holy scriptures and writings point to the year 1928 as being marked with a special sign. It is possible that, owing to changes in the calendars during the centuries, there is a discrepancy, but the catastrophe will certainly happen during a summer night.
"Savants will be able to warn us in advance of the approach of the bolide."
Regarding the Latin word "fabulae," I found two possible understandings of the context: first, the correct spelling, dealt with Gaius Julius Hyginus (ca. 64 BC – AD 17), a Latin author, who collected ...
Fabulae consists of some three hundred very brief and plainly, even crudely told myths and celestial genealogies, valuable for the use made by an author characterized by his modern editor as adulescentem imperitum, semidoctum, stultum of the works of Greek writers of tragedy that are now lost. [reference.com]
The second had to do with a possible mispelling; instead of fabulae, Pav intended "fibulae" ...
"the outer and thinner of the two bones of the human leg, extending from the knee to the ankle" [dictionary.com]
Since Pav referred to the constellation Lion (Leo) it is possible he meant the leg bones of the celestial image; however, the editor (tongue firmly planted in cheek) took opportunity to poke fun at the whacko through an allusion to ancient mythologies (or fables).

WHACKOS: Now I've heard it all!

Well, we'll just have to install catalytic converters on them.
Researchers in Norway claim a grown moose can produce 2,100 kilos of methane a year, equivalent to the amount of CO2 caused by an 8,077-mile car trip, der Spiegel reported.
