Vermont has put the brakes on a well-known scriptural reference which summarizes the gospel message. Shawn Byrne sued officials with the state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) when his application for personalized license plate with "JOHN316" on it was turned down.
Byrne submitted his application for the special plate in April, but received a letter stating each of his choices, including "JOHN316"; they said, it "refers to deity and has been denied" for that reason.
