Rwandan Reminder

I had to be reminded today of the genocide committed in Rwanda and Bosnia a few years ago. The reminder came in the form of a caller to a talk show, I forget which. The lady was amazed at the world's response to the 150,000 deaths in South Asia but the lack of a response to the genocide in other places.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 500,000 died in Rwanda and not many got excited ... including me.

Roughly 250,000 Bosnian nationals died in what was coyly called "ethnic cleansing."

To make matters worse, infanticide in the United States alone needs only 40 days to surpass the Christmas tsunami of 2004.

I'm humbled by the thought of my insensitivity and callousness.

You wrote......To make matters worse, infanticide in the United States alone needs only 40 days to surpass the Christmas tsunami of 2004.

I just made a post at a liberal blog site comparing the number of abortions to the lives lost in the tsunami and of course was asked if I honestly thought the lives of a "zygote" were equally equivalent to the lives lost in this Christmas disaster.

Am enjoying your blog site. Came across it by way of the World Mag Blog.
