In the same way cockroaches scurry around when the light switch is flipped on, secularists and humanists are running in circles to grasp the significance of this global outpouring of respect for this Pope.
A similar scurrying took place last year when "Dutch" Reagan went home to be with his Maker.
What's so difficult to understand?
- Both men lived by their convictions in spite of critics
- Both men called evil "evil," publicly
- Both men exposed immorality whenever given opportunity
- Both men suffered with dignity and humor the fiery darts of intense and personal criticism
- Both men used humor to disarm their critics
- Both men believed in only one truth, God's truth
- Both men spoke of their faith in God publicly
- Both men prayed in public, without shame or embarrassment
- Both men were reasonably transparent, in public and in private
- Both men lived rather circumspectly, considering the offices they held
- Both men were genuinely and authentically concerned for others, especially the down trodden, the poor, and the young
- Both men were tolerant of those with whom they disagreed
- Both men were shot by assassins and survived
- Both men communicated the same genus of hope to their respective audiences
- Both men suffered the oxymoronic indignity of dying privately before the eyes of world of the whole world
And the whole world around them appreciated that!
So what motivates the secularists and the humanists in their irritation? All of the above! Why is that? Because their message is not even close to that of these two great men, and the whole world around them knows that!
It simply hasn't occurred to secularists, humanists, relativists, atheists, or leftists that their worldview might be wrong.
