SECULAR BIGOTRY - Self-righteousness on display!

SHEEP'S CRIB reader and friend Mark Coffey was up early checking on MSM's continued decline in integrity with a post on Frank Rich's take on tonight's "Justice Sunday" ...
Frank Rich of the [New York] Times: Can You Guess the Subject? A gold star for you if you said [sigh] an attack on religion.
When I got home from church today (please don't tell Rich I'm a church goer or he'll stop culling The CRIB), I pulled up Rich's opinion piece ... yes, he is full of it. I'll let you go over to Mark's Decision '08 to read the real take; but for your benefit, I played entertainment ad copy writer and selected some juicier venom from Rich's column, to give you a foretaste of his hatred for non-Catholics.

He calls Evangelicals "hucksters" and a "mob." He says the free exercise of religion and speech by Evangelicals is "judge-bashing," "smoke and mirrors," "a stunt," "a fraudulence," and "a humbug." He says the Evangelicals' message recalls "the 1920's immortalized in 'Elmer Gantry,' reminds him of the "rhetoric of George Wallace," is spiced with "sham claims," and is nothing more than "duplicitous locution."

But what really got me was his bigoted world-view regarding legitimate bodies of faith; compare the juxtaposition of the sneers above with the two following quotes. This ...

Whatever your religious denomination, or lack of same, it was hard not to be swept up in last week's televised pageantry from Rome: the grandeur of St. Peter's Square, the panoply of the cardinals, the continuity of history embodied by the joyous emergence of the 265th pope. As a show of faith, it's a tough act to follow.

"As a show of faith"? Someone buy that son of Bilial a copy of Foxe's Book of Martyrs so he can see real faith at work

And this ...
These traditions have less to do with the earnest practice of religion by an actual church, as we witnessed from Rome, than with the exploitation of religion by political operatives and other cynics with worldly ends.
Can you say BIGOT? How many ways can you say it?

BTW - Decision '08 gets the first of my Double E Awards (Easy to read and Excellent in content).
