REACTION TO FALWELL'S "VOTE CHRISTIAN" ...

... admonition is evidence of a dearth of titillating news to report since the London bombings; the reaction by ADL (Anti-Defamation League) to his "get out the vote" efforts for 2008, is evidence agenda driven organizations are losing their ability to think before acting.
The Rev. Jerry Falwell drew fire Tuesday from the Anti-Defamation League, which called on him to retract a "vote Christian in 2008" statement.
Is Jerry an anti-Semite? Of course not! Falwell is one of biblical Israel's strongest supporters! Falwell told the press his statement was part of a mass fundraising letter six or seven months ago and was never intended to be anti-Jewish.
The criticism of Falwell appeared Tuesday (actually Monday, 8/8) on the Web site of the Anti-Defamation League, a group organized in 1913 to fight anti-Semitism.
"Rev. Falwell's recent statements are directly at odds with the American ideal and should be rejected," said ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman. "Understanding the danger of combining religion and politics, our founding fathers wisely cre-ated a political system based on individual merit and religious inclusiveness."
The group called on Falwell to retract his statement, which it termed "divisive and un-American."
Falwell declared his statement misunderstood and said he has since stopped using the "vote Christian" phrase.

This borders on insanity; why in world do we (any of us) say things from our hearts - out of our convictions - and then retract them due to pressure from groups dedicated to
the same philosophy for public relations.
"What I was saying was for conservative Christian voters to vote their values, which are pro-life and pro-family," Falwell said. "I had no intention of being anti-Jewish at all."
Is this any different from what any special interest group does? Don't they each promote their worldview? NARAL, the murder of babies; CAIR, the murder of innocent civilians; ADL, Jewish resistance to persecution; and The CRIB, the conservative right-wing, Christian view of things?
ADL said Falwell's "vote Christian" appeal was contained in the fundraising letter in which Falwell urged supporters to "call America back to God." ADL said the letter included a car sticker, which read, "I Vote Christian." [ABC News/AP]
From this the ADL concludes Falwell is anti-Semetic. From their take of his take I take it that they are anti-Muslim, anti-Hindhu, anti-Budhist, and anti-everything else. Come on guys, get real!
