JOHN G. ROBERTS NOMINATED ...

... by the president to be the next Chief Justice of the SCOTUS.
President Bush [did an end run around the Senate and] announced this morning that he will nominate John G. Roberts as the Seventeenth Chief Justice of the United States.

If confirmed, he will replace William H. Rehnquist, who died Saturday from cancer. Roberts clerked for Rehnquist in 1980 when Rehnquist was an associate justice.
Way to go Dubya! Clever, clever, and more clever!
