[I tried to post this for Monday morning but Blogger had a headache and wanted to sleep late so this is the best I could do ...]
Thomas Ross Bond, who played Butch the bully in the "Our Gang" and "The Little Rascals" serials of the 1930s, has died. He was 79.I can remember huge belly laughs from these silly kids, with their amateur acting, scripts, and plots when I was a kid [Reruns, okay?]. And then we introduced our own rascals to them when they were young. They continue to be fans even as adults.
Bond played a member of the Gang named Tommy. After his first year he was dropped from the cast but returned later in the role of Butch, the archenemy of Alfalfa.
Bond appeared in dozens of "Our Gang" and "Little Rascals" features before outgrowing the role.A special memorial thanks to all the members of the Our Gang and Little Rascals productions for bringing America so much decent entertainment. They are still worth the cost of a rental in my opinion.
Born Sept. 16, 1926 in Dallas, Bond got his start at the age of 5 when a talent scout for Hal Roach studios approached him as he was leaving a movie theater with his mother.
