BLOGGING: God Bloggers should fix this

... whether the Blogosphere does or not!

Trading links, backlinking, trackbacking, adulatory commenting, and reciprocative visiting have made the blogosphere the latest incarnation of the Mutual Admiration Society. Too much of this stuff is artificial and vain ... even though I admit to a certain rush when my unique visitor count climbs. [1 John 2:15, 16]

So, are you a part of the problem or a part of the solution John? Okay, you're right John! (This is self-talk for those of you too close to Mason-Dixon Line.) If I'm going to report a problem, I should be honest enough to offer a solution.

How about ranking blogs by return visits rather than links? Naw, that would really cost The CRIB some rank and result in huge pileups. Okay, how about a ratio of daily return visitors to daily unique visitors, on a running average of both. Or prehaps a running average of pageloads to unique visitors?

Am I wrong here? Don't just stop by and move on, let's discuss this. Have others posted on this? Do you remember where? Got a link?

I really don't care how we solve this but God bloggers should do it if for no other reason than principle.
