WITNESSING: I've been thinking about outreach as it relates to the contemporary church.

"I WILL PROCLAIM YOUR NAME TO MY BRETHREN, IN THE MIDST OF THE CONGREGATION I WILL SING YOUR PRAISE."

Hebrews 2:12

During my meeting with my accountability group today I realized the Lord really knows what He's doing with regard to sharing our faith. We don't, but He certainly does.

As a Senior Citizen of the Kingdom I've had time to reflect on the cultural decay of our nation; it's not a pretty reflection.

It occurred to me, on the one hand, when I was young, Jesus' name was heard everywhere, publicly, without offense; cursing, on the other hand, wasn't much heard, publicly, and when it was, people took immediate offense. In general, Churches were fairly full on Sunday mornings back then.

Today, Jesus' name even offends church goers when it's used publicly, especially in the context of witnessing or sharing one's faith. Likewise, today, cursing is heard everywhere, even in the classroom and government buildings, even those who attend church are not offended. Churches are fairly empty on Sunday mornings these days.

GO FIGURE? What happened? The potty-mouths wore us down, as did the secular self-righteous.

But [the man healed of leprosy] went out and began to proclaim [Jesus] freely and to spread the news around, to such an extent that Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but stayed out in unpopulated areas; and they were coming to Him from everywhere.

Mark 1:45

Here's the principle I believe: something said repeatedly and loudly wears down a person's willingness to object to it.

For example, the ACLU-ites persistent assault on everything religious, as long as it's related to Christianity; the entertainment industry's production of filth year-after-year, in spite of all the data saying it's not profitable; the academics' ego-induced love affair with socialism in every discipline, in spite of the taxpayers' continuing disgust with it; and our government's repeated ignoring of their constituents regarding border security, in spite of opinion polls.

These are just a few where culturally dysfunctional activities are continued in a concerted effort to wear decent people down so they'll give up.

But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light...

1 Peter 2:9

The cause of Christ is too important to give up. I encourage all of my readers to begin a campaign of mentioning Jesus' name whenever and wherever they get a chance, as often as they get a chance.

Don't call Him "the Lord" or "God" or any other of His wonderfully powerful names ... call Him Jesus, or Jesus Christ, or Jesus the Son of God, or Jesus the Son of Abraham, or Jesus the Son of Mary, just keep on saying the name above all names, the name by which every man must be saved. Say it often and say it loud.


Let's wear them down and recapture the ground we've lost through intimidation and fear. Amen, and Amen!
