From the Bluegrass Blog ...Just two months ago Larry (and his three brothers) said "thank you" to Tallahassee, in a concert in the city whose people, large and small, gave so much to help pay for his radiation treatments.We learn from our friend Mark Johnson that Larry Rice has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Bluegrass fans know Larry from his time with JD Crowe and the Kentucky Mountain Boys, and his later work with brothers Tony and Wyatt in The Rice Brothers.
We are looking for formal obituaries in Florida papers, and will pass along links with more information as soon we find them. The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday (May 17) at the Strickland Funeral Home in Crystal River, FL.
Our most sincere condolences to Larry’s family and many close friends as they mark his passing.
