If the rumors are true our (California) Attorney General is moving ahead on a plan to challenge a law which permits pro-life healthcare providers to opt out when abortion is involved.
As I understand it the provision was included in the legislation to make allowances for those who object to abortion on moral and/or religious grounds. Now that is the right way to do things in a secular and pluralistic society. To take away that provision from a citizenry that is highly moral and religious is stupid and the wrong way to do things.
In allowing the provision will one less innocent child be aborted? Will one fewer teenaged girls get ill-planned parenthood advice? Will the abortion industry stop lying and twisting the data? Probably no on all accounts. So what really happens if the legislation is allowed to stand?
Hundreds of individuals can go to bed at night knowing they won't lose their jobs because they object. Hundreds more will be able to go to bed with clear consciences knowing they didn't participate in another state sanctioned murder.
