I admire this Catholic leader, John Paul II. I don't, however, agree with the Catholic tradition of popery or in their history of the office. I am, after all, a conservative, evangelical, non-catholic Southern Baptist.
I've admired him since the days of the Polish overthrow of communism under Lech Walesa.
Seriously, we (blogging, non-catholic believers) must face the reality of John Paul's passing ... soon, probably. The blogosphere arose after his ascension to the highest office of Catholicism and to worldwide respect. Our corporate response to his passing will be noticed by hundreds of thousands of people all over the world.
There will be those who decide to take the opportunity to slam the Catholic family and doctrine which differs from their own ... this will be a mistake. There will also be those who take opportunity to pander to his popularity out some inner conflict ... this too will be a mistake.
What say you?
