... of this constant harping that terrorism has increased because of the war in Iraq. Terrorism is ideological, not political. It seems to me that people have lost their ability to think critically ... or they don't "think" when they're involved in a survey.
The Government has consistently argued that Australia's vulnerability is not specifically increased by being in the Iraq war. But this is rejected by the public: 66 per cent believe Australia is a greater target because of the war, while 30 per cent said it makes no difference. [Age]
Hogwash! So what if 66% of those surveyed "believe" terrorism has increased? If I discover I have operable cancer because I experienced pain while exercising to keep fit, it doesn't follow that the cancer appeared suddenly because I exercised ... that is, that it wasn't there before I commenced to take care of myself. The damnable stuff was there, growing, the whole time.
Do people really believe the increase in Islamo-fascist terror since the Iraq war (or since 9/11) is ipso facto cause and effect? This ideological cancer was growing there the whole time!
Come on people ... get real!
