CATHOLIC: TO BE GAY OR NOT TO BE GAY ...

... that is the question. Debate continues over the meaning of the Vatican's new policy on the seminary admittance of and ordination of homosexuals.
In Archbishop [Dublin] Diarmuid Martin's opinion, the document issued last month left a fundamental tenet untouched: The path to possible ordination is still open to anyone, including homosexuals, who remain celibate and follow the church's moral teachings.
I don't know but that's what I thought it said too. I was under the impression that a candidate must make a vow of celibacy gay or not ... only now the homosexual must renounce his warped nature and assure Rome he will not give in to temptation.

Am I wrong on this? It does open the door to some future legal problems when the inevidible occurs but it's by far better than the "ya'al come" policy of the past century.
Such views are squarely at odds with conservative Roman Catholic blocs, including some in the United States, that believe the church is in effect endorsing a blanket ban on gay priests.
Seriously, where in the document did Rome issue such a blanket statement. I believe the Roman Church is saying, "For the love of Christ, knock-off the pansy act and grow up."
