ROOTS: ON THIS DAY IN 1639 ...

... The Fundamental Orders, the first written constitution which created a legitimate government in the colonies, was adopted in Connecticut. The following is the preamble of that glorious document:
For as much as it hath pleased Almighty God by the wise disposition of his divine providence so to order and dispose of things that we the Inhabitants and Residents of Windsor, Hartford and Wethersfield are now cohabiting and dwelling in and upon the River of Connectecotte and the lands thereunto adjoining; and well knowing where a people are gathered together the word of God requires that to maintain the peace and union of such a people there should be an orderly and decent Government established according to God, to order and dispose of the affairs of the people at all seasons as occasion shall require; do therefore associate and conjoin ourselves to be as one Public State or Commonwealth; and do for ourselves and our successors and such as shall be adjoined to us at any time hereafter, enter into Combination and Confederation together, to maintain and preserve the liberty and purity of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus which we now profess, as also, the discipline of the Churches, which according to the truth of the said Gospel is now practiced amongst us; as also in our civil affairs to be guided and governed according to such Laws, Rules, Orders and Decrees as shall be made, ordered, and decreed as followeth: [CRIB emphasis]
But then again, our secular academics and pundits have told us ad nauseam this is not a Christian country or even one witha a Judeo-Christian foundation. Naw!!!

With that last statement, it's a good thing the ACLUites weren't near Connectecotte, or this court order would have never seen the light of day ... let alone the great seal above. The seal clearly depicts the three original founding communities (symbolic of the Trinity), grape vines entwined (a Christian symbol), and grape clusters (John 15:1-8). These were very religious people and everything in their lives would have suggested Christian significance.

Praise God, what a testimony!
If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:13, 14
