WAR DEAD: Those who die in the line of duty,

... especially those who die in wartime duty, deserve our finest and deepest respect. The preeminent opportunity to show this respect is the time of their internment.

Fred Phelps, pastor [sic] of Westboro Baptist Church in Wichita, doesn't agree! To Freddie a military funeral is an opportunity to protest the homosexual agenda and to proclaim his prophetic belief the death is the direct result of God's wrath on America's tolerance of homosexuals.

As a result of his embarrassing protests, the congress and the president have made such protests illegal. One loudmouthed, uncomprehending, cult leader chips away at the freedoms and liberties of the rest of us ... great!
President Bush, marking Memorial Day with a speech paying tribute to fighting men and women lost in war, signed into law Monday a bill that keeps demonstrators from disrupting military funerals.

In advance of his speech and a wreath-laying at America's most hallowed burial ground for military heroes, Bush signed the "Respect for America's Fallen Heroes Act." This was largely in response to the activities of a Kansas church group that has staged protests at military funerals around the country, claiming the deaths symbolized God's anger at U.S. tolerance of homosexuals.
Well, I'm glad that SOB (son of Belial) can no longer legally spew his venom on the memories of our fallen, but I wish he didn't have the satisfaction of knowing it took a new federal law to stop him.
