The President Bush's reference to the need to have a personal relationship with the Lord has been inflated to a size greater than the Hindenburg before the day is over; by tomorrow it will eclipse the moon ... by the end of the week the sun .
Some rather intelligent and very well educated people are having a cow. Let me assure you, the president's statement is being taken out of context.
Note first, the context was the difficulty of carrying out the duties of the office of President of the United States of America.
Now, take his statement on face value; to paraphrase: "I don't see how anyone could do the job of president without a relationship with the Lord."
Golly, gee! Do you think he might have been saying the job is so difficult to do that anyone wanting to do it should consider the need for strength from somewhere outside themselves?
No, no, you flaming liberal and godless neo-commies think he's trying to convert the whole nation into a theocracy. I don't think you even know what the word means. Anyone that believes that kind of idiocy should be forced to live a month in a real theocracy like Iran before we listen to a word they say.
