In a lop-sided victory Saturday, Virginia's General Assembly gave final approval to a proposed constitutional ban on gay marriage.
The state's House of Delegates voted 79-17 and Senate voted 30-10 to pass the measure's final version. Though a victory for those opposed to aberrant forms of marriage, the bill must be approved again next year and then ratified by voters in the 2006 general election before it becomes part of Virginia's Constitution.
